Looks really good! How do you clean your brushes while you paint?
@PaintByNate2 ай бұрын
Thanks! I usually just brush them off with a paper towel and then clean them at the very end with bristle magic
@henrik84972 ай бұрын
@ Cool, do you think it’s worth getting several brushes to reduce the cleaning time?

Hi. I've been binging your vids and watching a lot of Bob Ross and Bill Alexander vids as well. I am about to get into some oil painting with water mixable oils. I watched a vid from you from maybe 1 or 2 yrs ago and you mentioned a couple soaps that you added to your water for cleanup that work well, but I can't remember what they are or the video where you mentioned it. Can you tell me what those soaps are (alternative to dawn dish soap?). Thanks!
@PaintByNate11 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! The soaps I usually mix together are jacks linseed soap and masters brush cleaning soap. Those two usually knock out anything that sticks to the brush.
@NotSureWhatsHappening7311 ай бұрын
Lovely video and painting. I wanted to ask about the brands of water mixable oils you've tried. Which of them water down to a wash the easiest? I see some brands really struggle with this and get very grainy.
@PaintByNate11 ай бұрын
Thanks! I think of the ones I've tried the Grumbacher Max and Lukas Berlin watered down the most to make washes. It has been a while though so I may need to test them out again to know for sure (:

Man hands down, you got the best, most accurate and knowledgeable review of these water soluble oil colors out there! You got my lifelong sub asap and I’m coming back to check on those sweet „bob-Ross-esque“ painting videos!! Great job man, keep it up!! Ps: id say your approach is very professional, so becoming one is just a matter of time I guess. Cheers
@PaintByNate Жыл бұрын
Thanks much appreciated! I’m glad you find the reviews helpful 🙏 if there’s any other brands you’d want reviewed let me know I’m still working on a daler rowney water mixables oils video
@ricardoflummiremus Жыл бұрын
@@PaintByNateyeah sure that would be cool too. I was avoiding every range that hadn’t enough single pigmented paints, since I find them the most suited for clean mixing - and I don’t want to interfere with every producers own formula and mixing them all together in my quest of a super good single pigment „mixing“ palette. But now Im looking for every paint / brand that just suits my specific likes. So every brand and paint is cool, since I just handpick them. Right now I’m painting with the artisan range from W&N and I really like it for mixing. Between W&N Artisan, Duo Holbein and the MAX lines, which one of them you like the most? Im mostly searching for qualities like rather matte sheen, leveling properties and maybe more buttery / thick - so I can thin them to my liking. Or work impasto. Happy new year and all the best from Germany So yeah looking forward to that daler rowney review!! Cheers

I paint with water soluble oils. Could you tell me how you dispose of your water after a painting session? I don't dump it down the drain. Instead I fill milk jugs with my used water and then bring them to a disposal facility. It's getting quite expensive...they charged me forty dollars to dispose of about 6 jugs. Any other way to responsibly dispose of the paint waste water? Thank you.
@PaintByNate Жыл бұрын
It can get expensive depending on where you live. I pour my water into old cat litter and then take the cat littter in hazard bags to a local landfill where they dispose of it free of charge to me since I’m a resident. When I was using mineral spirits they charged me $15 per car load though it just depends on the type and facility.

I used to do space art with spray paints and with those is common to do stars just by spraying white to your index finger and just flick your finger so it "throws" the paint to the canvas and makes stars very easy. I wonder how it would do if you try this same with liquid white. Just before you make clouds, flick stars to the sky, then clouds and mountains ect. You can hold piece of paper over the areas where you dont want "stars" to go. I guess that with this you could do great evening / night scenes?
@PaintByNate Жыл бұрын
That’s really cool! And yeah you can definitely do that with the liquid white too it also works well for snow effects
