I looooove this melody, so beautiful and relaxing.... And at the end, the little oriental melody and the final with harmonics, i believe. I've always loved harmonics, that create a peculiar sound, not really finished but at the same time that shine and echo like if the sound was surrounded by a light. :) It's very hard to do harmonics, it's a question of tension in the fingers on the strings, and the beautiful surprise to play with Tommy Emmanuel, i don't know this artist, but i've understood him to be a very good guitarist so ! Well, how could it be else to accompany Steve Vai ?! :)

Is this a guy who lost from Karate Kid in the guitar duel?
@dirklee51102 жыл бұрын
Yes, Steve Vai played Jack Butler in the movie Crossroads.

A little Wes Montgomery flavor in the solo with the thumb octaves. Very nice!

The audience was split about 60/40. I suspect most were wives/girlfriends being dragged to the show.

its pre taped and the band is playing to a click track,,,

This video was kinda lame though when you think of the extent these guys can play and how much more epic it is when they are working directly off one another.
@dirklee51107 жыл бұрын
jaydoebud - Perhaps if Tommy was actually there, it may have been different. This was a Vai concert where he played along with prerecorded videos.

Great clips of the MrBig show in Nashville - did you record the whole show ? ( maybe we could do a trade- I taped them a lot...)
@dirklee51107 жыл бұрын
Hospital29 - Thanks. We were obviously right up front, so we could see the setlist. I only recorded a bunch of songs as they came up. I've got a few more to post, which I'll get to over the next week or so.
@Hospital297 жыл бұрын
Thanks, may I ask you if you could send me your great original recording files in best quality ? I'm really a die hard fan---
@dirklee51107 жыл бұрын
Hospital29 - I can't make any promises on the iPhone videos. I haven't sync' the phone yet, and the past I've had a lot of issues downloading them to my computer. I guess the transfer doesn't like file sizes that big. I'll have to see what I can do. The GoPro videos should be manageable, but I haven't sync' that yet either.

Doubt tommy's video was live. Likely Vai is just playing along with a recording.
@dirklee51107 жыл бұрын
That's correct. This was from Steve's 25th Anniversary of Passion and Warfare tour, and he interacted with a few guitarists during the show like this. They did a great job tracking the pieces together.
