The bigger the over lap more slip less top speeds .Allows bigger pitch .more vacuum pulling the hull down for traction.Great mid good thrust .Bad on fuel .But unfortunately this is what they think you want .I don’t care about take off cavitation..Ive never had a race on the water from a stand still have you .The STX 160 Kawasaki runs a 148 mm pump 13/22 impeller some 14/21.The leading edge 13 above has very little vacuum.Unfortunately the Yamaha pump is 155mm .this needs a 12 leading edge anything above kills top speed .So reducing over lap definitely works on a 12 leading edge to stop vacuum.Tested by me .This to me hasn’t hurt low end .Mid to top is definitely way faster .Don’t go hacking at the impeller.I have the overlap sorted .This was early stages .Over lap is definitely another restriction.The impeller started to pick up more rpm on a slight trim and hull raised out of the water way more .Check out the GP1300 impeller .The overload is double what’s the new skis run .Thats how they turned big impellers in the day.Cheating . .

I got my centre cv pulled apart today I had 1 part of tailshaft in my vice other part in my hand and i could feel notching right thru the rotation But i have taken it out the cv and cleaned it in petrol and all the ball bearings do not look scored etc i am utterly confused here
@rickohlson396213 күн бұрын
It could be in the housing .The balls always look good they are hard as. Has it got a lot of free play.Cv shafts usually give a vibration when they are shot around 60 kph to 80 kph ..

@rickohlson3962 the housing on it looks pretty good still has hone marks if that makes sense The boot was split for a few months I'd say though but it def was greasy and slightly dirty but not that bad The rear cv feels ever so slight lose but buttery smooth to move rotate around how it does if I put the weight of the shaft on the rear cv and then go thru motion it's a touch notching But the centre when it had 1 end of shaft in vice other in my hand as I had no one else to help I could feel the notch thru the shaft Yet once it was removed and cleaned n soaked In petrol everything looks well I'm utterly lost

@rickohlson396213 күн бұрын
@michaellareem4014 have you lowered the car .Sounds like centre bearing rubber .Under load it’s doing it .Diff front pinion points down 2 degrees .the spot welds come loss and the centre turns on the tubes it happens .This can cause a vibration up hills under load .

Confused that workshop manual says to remove condenser as well in order to remove radiator fan and radiator. Is it possible to keep the condenser at its place without touching it while removing radiator? Also curious, if I need to remove upper bumper absorber and upper bumper element in order to remove radiator? Or will it be possible to slide up the radiator without removing any of these except the bumper and the hood lock ? Many thanks in advance
@rickohlson3962Ай бұрын
I didn’t remove the bumper completely .Its not that hard to remove .Remove top radiator support .I took the fan out before radiator .The ac condenser stays behind it’s not attached .Unfortunately no short cuts they didn’t leave enough room to slide the radiator out to easily.I didn’t jack the car up or put on ramps it’s a fast easy job you can do this .

This carbon cleaner removes carbon gunk from the valves and intake manifold .And Pistons combustion chamber.By doing this you will eliminate detonation .Carbon glows hot and ignites the fuel before the spark plug does .This will reduce power and over time destroy the engine quicker .By removing carbon from the rings this creates more torque .I hold the rpm’s about 3500 rpm and spray the cleaner into the cylinder.It turns carbon back into oil .I noticed a huge difference after 10 minutes of riding it has to clear its self .

This car I brought was ok for about a month .Than it used 3 litre of oil in a few days .I know because I always check the engine oil on any vehicle I drive every week.I thought it was the oil ring so I used Valvoline revive oil .Itv was still using oil .A week later I cleaned all the inlet port from carbon and oil it was dirt as .A few days later coming down a big hill it was smoking up bad I realised the valve stem seals are definitely gone than .When the throttle body closes a lot of vacuum inside the inlet manifold.If the valve stems are gone the oil will get sucked down the valve guide straight into the combustion chamber than burn .I never do the exhaust valve because they have the most load on the guide forcing against compression when trying to open .That exhaust side has positive pressure so more likely the oil gets pushed back into the cylinder head than anything else .

So advancing the timing and exhaust the same will net better results? Can you provide some insight on this ?
@rickohlson39624 ай бұрын
I tested cam timing for 7 years .I tried other combinations companies recommended..I have no idea how they came up with the rubbish they suggested.Most set ups didn’t idle .Sounded lumpy and tuff that’s as far as it went .114 Lobe separation is the number .If it sounds lumpy won’t idle you did it wrong .The exhaust header system won’t allow any changes with lobe separation.I ported the head back cut the valves I couldn’t get the engine to make power until I changed the headers .At that point I was running 117 lobe separation because the flow between the inlet and exhaust was 35 percent better what effect the lobe separation.It’s was worse than a 300 seadoo to run on fuel .I came back to 114 lobe separation after I modified the headers .Still shocking on fuel but fast .I recommend 5 degrees advanced both cams for stock compression .the more advanced increases torque by raising compression.Stage two .60 thou shaved of the head 2 degrees advanced both cams .why because if you don’t the 5 advanced degrees won’t let the engine rev .Its to much compression.That set up is 13 more hp good on fuel and I never touched the worx tune .Not an issue ever .Thats the best I can tell you before things get out of hand and start becoming an obsession.Let me know how you go with it .Shave the head no one will come close to that mod .72 mph

@rickohlson39624 ай бұрын
Ok so it’s really down on speed .Water temps are 16 degrees so it’s killed speed .They all say cooler water makes more speed .True in supercharged or turbo jetski,s .They make more power in cooler conditions so they over come the dense water .Last week I ran 113 kph I didn’t change a thing since summer . .I always lose a lot of speed in winter .I dropped 1 degrees on the impeller and ran 117 kph the next week .Water is like oil .If the oil is hot it will drain faster .Cold oil drains really slow .If I made the drain hole bigger it would drain faster correct .I run a really small nozzle so a sudden drop in temp make it harder to push water through it .Plus the water drag on the hull is slowing the ski a lot .Now I have a set up for summer and winter .Next week it’s going for tuning I’ll keep you posted .Its really bad on fuel it’s been modified to much .

That’s moving for them mods great work .Thats a big impeller are you running a 87 mm factory nozzle .If so I would look at going a 86 mm nozzle with a 11/16..Next I would look at advancing both cams 2 degrees to start with that makes a huge difference.If you haven’t sealed up the intake grate yet I would.I use 3m 550 sealant around the sides and back of the ramp on the grate .Pump seal kit doesn’t seal with out the sealant .just the cam timing intake grate 71.5 mph with the 11/16 86 mm nozzle 72 / 73 mph .To go faster than that the ride plate needs a major overhaul so does the hull .It can get dangerous if done wrong so I pulled that video down .
