@@tanzchef ach ich habe mir denn auch gehollt aber bei bass intensiven lieder ist das nur am knistern. electro hardcore packt der irgendwie nicht. aber der 500ter und der 600hat das gleiche problem. das kann nur noch an der firmen ware liegen . über vdj gehts ja auch ohne. ich bin von gimini doch eher entäuscht das ein gerät mit einen super display es nicht schaft ein guten ton hervor zu bringen . und das die sachen so verkauft werden. ich musss mich damit nicht zufrieden geben muss hat irgendwann ein sehr teurer player her . ich habe die schauze voll davon. alle haben sie das gleiche problem und das ist die ansteuerung vom sound chipp. das hört man selbst live das ist echt übel also mit stick ist voll für hintern

@@soundshacker6531 Ja. Ich bin letztendlich auch umgestiegen auf Pioneer. Ist zwar teuer aber es lohnt sich unterm Strich.

@@tanzchef ich finde die geräte nicht schlecht aber gemini will auch nix dran änderen. test cd funktioniert . aber beim bass test war nach 30 secunden ende. ich habe noch den ndx 500 der hat war geil super geiles display aber es hört sich gescheit an. hat nur kein link.

CDJ 900 of course because it is simply much better in many points and especially more comfortable with USB devices. But for CD only use the 850 is okay.

Thanks @Orlando Vasquez. Depends on what you want to use them for. In my thinking they are best choice for bedroom DJing and smaller events if you dont use them every weekend. If you use mixing and looping very intensive they maybe are not the best choice. So for really professional, frequent and hard mixing use I prefer Pioneer devices. Have a nice day 🙂

@@tanzchef I appreciate your reply . I wanted to begin doing some mobile gigs. I was thinking of buying a ddj 1000 controller or a pair of gemini mdj 900 and a djm 750 mkII . I expect to dj regularly at least every weekend so probably is not the best choice. Have a great weekend.Thanks.

Actually they are 90% identical except the screen, the software and a little bit of aesthetic. The fact is that cost a fraction of cdj 2000's price and only few people discovered them.

The technical difference is that Pioneer players need to analyze the Tracks on the USB device with Rekordbox before use. The MDJ's dont need this. The user experience difference is that Pioneer Players are muxh more reliable and stronger built. Simply more professional.

@Graham Kennedy: As far as I know the known bugs are not really fixed. But you can use the 500 very well. Or you go full professional and get a Pioneer as I did.

In their price range for me they are the best value. They behave very good.

Hey Adam, I did not update the firmware 'cause I actually have the Gemini's as emergency set. I use a pioneer set. The MDJ-900 were purchasedin Oct 2019, I have no idea if Gemini released a new firmware after that time.

Der Herr Schiro thanks for replying! I would say there is definitely a newer version, and anecdotally it does seem to improve a few of the issues you mentioned. I have an MDJ500 which Improved quite a bit on the latest version (6.8 in that case). I’m thinking of getting some 900s so always interested in hearing opinions of them :) Does the jog wheel feel ok quality? It’s really poor on the 500, the bearings are very simple inside. Also how do the play and cue buttons feel quality wise? Thanks Adam

@@adamvahey1586 For me they feel OK (Jogs and bottoms). But rhis is something about personal taste. Shure especially the jogs feel much better compared to the 500/600 models after my feeling.

Would you recommend the mdj 900? I'm looking at moving from vinyl and dont have a clue what's best about any input would be great. Would only be bedroom use.

@@lewemooke This really depends on the way you work. In my opinion in the range of all budget-players sold actually, the MDJ-900 are the best ones. BUT: If you need the best Vinyl-feeling, check out the Denon SC5000M stand-alone player or the RANE controllers. If you want to go to change to have a real professional and longlasting solution for many years, there is no other way: Pioneer. XDJ-1000MK2 (stand-aline). I decided to keep the MDJ's for home use and got the "Nexus-set for poor people" (Pioneer XDJ-XZ, stand-alone). Maybe a DDJ-1000 can make you happy, too if you agree to have a Notebook based controller solution.

I don't use this software because the MDJ's play the waveform without analyzing before use (my XDJ-XZ demands the analizing before). I learned DJ'ing in the 90ties and I don't need exact bpm-monitoring on the screen. But you are right, analyze beings more possibilities. Hope could help you a little.

Alexander de Vries I have a pair of MDJ 600s and absolutely love them. That is probably the only thing, is that mine, too, don’t always give me an accurate bpm reading, but I’ve been beatmixing for 23 years, that I work around that. The MDJ family is really great, for what they do, and the price. I got the 600s, because I still use CDs. It really frustrated the heck out of me, when they discontinued the MDJ 1000s. I’m buddies with Eric Huber, who use to work for Gemini for several years. He’s the guy in all of Gemini’s KZbin videos demonstrating the MDJ units. He says that’s the only thing Gemini doesn’t do enough of, is promoting these units more. Their GVX powered series speakers are also awesome for the price, but they discontinued them too early as well. I have their upgrade ZRX 18 sub, and that sucker pushes more than 2 of my Peavey Passive 18 PV subs. Gemini needs to promote their better units, more, and not discontinue them so soon, without a viable replacement. I understand these MDJ 900s are like the 1000s, but without the CD player.Even Pioneer still offers cd playing options in their players.

Sometimes yes. Especially for spontaneous sessions at home.

@@tanzchefbought cheap mdj900 and tried vcase software today. At the moment some error when expoerting to USB ... I guess because multiple files formats, for example aiff, wav etc. Will try mp3 only

@@lcaise I have no experience in that point - I dont use VCase, always just put a stick with MP3's in the player. Hope you can solve this.

The MDJ-900 is not a Pioneer but in it's price range after my opinion it is the really best choice.

@@laimissavickas7253 Pioneer is better in longlasting quality (means even if they are some years old they give you the security that they will work for shure) and they have the CD option. The Gemini's have this big screen that makes it much more comfortable to browse in your songs and work with a waveform. They also work with different formatted hard drives/sticks. The CDJ-850 only accept FAT formatted media, even not with the newest firmware. Not so brilliant with the Geminis is... they lack a little in processor power. Means the function sometimes is not as fluent and safe as with the Pioneers.
