Maybe Peter Sellers was a near as himself personally when he spoke about Spike Milligan here.

It's fascinating watching almost obscure pilots like this. It's almost like watching interdimensional cable (to use a Rick & Morty term), watching something that might or could have been in our universe. Something that panned out in another reality and was probably quite a hit. It's also so strange seeing big comedy legends from other TV greats come together in the same screen. Like I never thought I'd see Mark Gatiss and Robert Webb in the same TV show. All we need now is someone like Nick Frost and Paterson Joseph to show up in this.

I have never seen an episode of the Q series broadcast even though I was born 3 years after this aired. Why were these not reshown so that I could have understood the forerunner to Monty Python sooner? How dare the BBC have 'lost' (wiped over probably) 4 episodes? Shambolic lack of foresight for the presevation of our heritage.

Compelling, totally Compelling! Spike has been my hero since about 12 years old (1965) and indirectly he helped me find my feet, yes they were at the end of my legs that are attached to my knees!! But it was a survival mode that he instilled in me and I feel like I'm still surviving as a square peg in a round hole for many reasons. Have to say what a great interviewer David Dimbleby is. He listened to Spikes answers and followed them up with impromptu questions instead of sticking to a script. Fascinating all round. Many people should watch this as it great therapy🫂🫂🥰 God bless Spike 🤪💖

I adore this man's mindset. He takes you to places, seldom experienced today. I call it, "opening a can of forgetfulness. That's how I interpret his style of humour. A 'true genius'... ❤️

Spike was right. Humans are idiots & we are all onions 🌰 😢.... But some gentle folks are born with a few layers less/ removed, and as a result are less equipped to deal with life/ fakes disappointments & emotions less than most whilst preferring to retreat into ones own head! His thoughts on his own cat & cats regards garden birds is spot on. God Bless him. British treasure.

This reminds me of the famous Tony Hancock interview with John Freeman. Spike is very brave to reveal himself so honestly, and his flaws. Hancock tried to do the same but ultimately couldn't live with himself.

'Mad' and 'insane' where the comments by two women at the beginning...lol...Spike had the ability to make it look like he was an idiot to those who didn't have the type of brain to see what he was doing...Just like Groucho, Laurel and Chaplin he's certainly up there with them...Everything he did and said was worked out and sometimes in a live instant...No madness or insanity there...only genius

I’m old enough to say that I watch this live on tv. It was CRINGE WORTHY. And embarrassing ,I even felt sorry for Charles. All dreamt up and staged by Princess Margaret’s husband, ( obviously with the Queen and government’s backing) BUT really I SINCERELY hope that Charles NEVER DOES THAT TO WILLIAM,or WILLIAM do it to George. They’d be sooo embarrassed. 😳🫣🫣

The Investiture at Caernarfon was a 20th Century creation. It is probably best left there. I saw that as somebody who supports the principle of the Monarchy. Sometimes change is for the better, not everything we used to do is still appropriate.

Spike Milligan, not a brilliant academic mind, but rather a genius intellect, a complicated " by the worlds' hypocrisy" man, but with huge empathy, compassion, and a heart bigger than most, all of this I learnt in one weekend with him, Sellers and Seecombe, who was a great friend of my Father, Harold Lake, and mother, Maureen Adair. A beautiful mind of note. He told me ' Martin my lad, don't ever enter show biz, we're all mad, don't know who we are, and are mostly queer".
