Hello Dr Lee, I'll be 65 in one month and have been experiencing exactly what you talk about since i was 15. I had L5-S1 fusion in 1994 and though I physically healed, my body continued to have pain. There's much more to my story but I'd rather know that you can talk with me or refer a doctor near me. I did see a top neurologist at MGB who does mostly works with people who have FND that are associated with movement disorders, like MS and Parkinson's. She told me that i didn't have FND. I know that i do and was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in 2005 as well as had five spine operations at MGB that didn't work. The doctors their always write in my chart Chronic Pain Syndrome and failed operation , then walk away. I've been in therapy and on Klonopin and Venlafaxine since 1988. Pleased let me know how to communicate with you. Obviously, I'm not a teen and would feel quite uncomfortable in that type of group. Thank you.

The more all of the symptoms are listed the more patients end up with multiple symptoms. The child may or may not be making things up and fnd does not rule out factitious disorder. The fight or flight response is unpredictable and in a state of surprise no one knows what their sudden reaction will be. The understanding there is no major physical illness should be reassuring and for some will enable recovery. Concentrate on trying and know we cannot all be top of the class - everyone's input in life is important.

Im 23 with FND and just had to travel to Boston to see the specialist at the FND unit there. Cant believe its so difficult to find treatment despite living in LA. Thankfully its getting more prevelant with more research and eventually the doctors will follow the money

Trauma is a risk factor for adult FND, but it is not a cause. Matter-of-fact, most adults with FND have no history of trauma. Refer to Dr. Jon Stone who is one of the leading FND experts in the world.

so i have near passed out and passed out a couple times now, and the last time i did it in class and went to urgent care, i had normal results for everything, but it seems like the symptoms for this is very similar to what i feel a lot, so i'm wondering how to go about telling/asking my parents about this because they don't know why it happens. it doesn't happen when i do physical exercise so it might not be POTS but i want to make sure. thanks!
