Trudeau set next election one week after many of his friends (80+), Singh one of them, gets entitled to their gold plated pension at our expense. Trudeau could set it one week earlier and let the voters decide who receives the pension, but no government knows better. Let the people decide!

OAS clawback is just prepaying tax if it was due to capital gains in the previous year.

Omg bottom line here is that this is and more so now will always be a rich person's world. Lets face it the wealth find ways to get around the system the poor dont have anything in the first place and the middle class and I mean the lower middle class gets hammered with all the taxes. These people work all their lives and now are the bulk of how are now living on the streets. All the taxes payed in this country is supposed to be used by our governments to take care of things.miss management very very poor management. And heres a big question why do the government officials only have to work a short time in life and live high on the hog for the rest of their lives and everyone else has to do a life term and 60% of them are now living in a tent or their car . Great job Canadian government 😡

Not sure where you get the idea that $80,000 a year is the median income for most Canadians. I worked many years as a supervisor in a metal stamping facility in Ontario and made over $80,000 a year only once and that was with many many hours of overtime. Can we get a video like this made for the real average Canadian worker with an income of between $30,000 and $40,000.

$80000 is low income? You do have to pay taxes to get FREE healthcare, roads, schools, etc. etc. Why do boomers want to take take take but not pay back. Terrible blog.

Thanks for clarifying the loss of benefits that a living spouse would have got vs $7 practically nothing if a spouse dies. Please explain if its better to take CPP before 65 in that case, even if its 36 per cent less. Especially if theres less income. Also seems like rsp should be drawn early too then! Lastly you didn't explain the claw back if an income-producing property is sold and theres capital gains

I would invite a lawyer to take the government to task for taking our CPP for themselves. My husband gets the full amount of CPP, I get a bit over $700. If he dies first, I only get a portion of his CPP to take me up to the maximum. The government keeps the rest even. Our children cannot inherit our CPP when we die so, if a single person dies at 65 and has not taken any CPP, the government keeps all of his contributions and the contributions of his employer. Those government rules are unconstitutional, in my opinion. This must change. If our CPP contributions had been invested in a private investment, we could pass the money to whomever we please when we die! 😡😡😡😡

Our useless governments ... taxing the stuffing out of people for the sin of being productive. Should non contributors to municipal, Provincial & or Federal tax coffers be granted an automatic Right to vote? Iow's; is giving one man the Right to use his vote to put his hand in another's pocket really a good idea???

Old age security benefits are funded by our tax dollars and is intended for people with limited fix incomes. If I have an income of $90,000 a year in retirement and I have to lose 8.3 percent of OAS it is not going to effect me that much especially if you have a spouse with a similar retirement income. I would much rather see that money going to people who really need it.

In a $500G DB example, the premium is $430 a month from age 40. Nick lives to age of 90. So with whole life insurance, Nick pays $430 a month for 600 months (50 years) total $258G. Dividend is $130 a year best case for 50 years on the premium paid, or $6500, for a cash value of $264,500. The alternative is to buy term life insurance with extended duration and invest the rest .. a $500G death benefit policy for a 30 year term would be about $60 a month leaving $370 available to save .. $370 monthly in the market at 7% (stock market lifetime average) in a tax deferred account gives me $432G after 30 years. I won’t need a $500G policy if I’ve got $432G cash in my account, so I cancel it, And for the next 20 years my account keeps growing at the full $430 a month. when I’m 90 the account is worth $1.9 million. Conclusion is clear .:. Do I want $264.5G (whole) or do I want $1.9 M (term and invest) for the same premium output .. I choose term and invest!

So if you're on CPP disability before you retire, does your CPP at retirement increase while you're on the disability? Or no, it doesn't. And you lose out because you're not contributing anymore because you're not working. You're actually getting a disability amount of LTD from your work. And you're also getting the CPP disability which you discussed in this video. Do you stay low or do you continue to year by year get an average to increase your CPP upon retirement or do you stick at what you're at?

Most of the “equity” in those homes comes from endless money printing causing inflation. It was never “earned “ and young people cannot afford to pay for both the debt and inflated housing costs.
