Good stuff! I just realized that in few years of using Coat I actually never seriously used it to sculpt rocks, which is a shame))) Nice workflow, and great narration, thanks man! 👍

Hey Anthony, I just bought 3dcoat and sort of hard to find a good tutorial to get me right into the action, I really appreciate what you did here, I've been working with Maya and Zbrush for almost 5 years now professionally and started to look into 3dcoat, so slow approach doesn't really work for me. your tutorial very simple and just what I need, thank you have a great day.

Amazing interpretation!! Inspiring stuff! As a constructive criticism, as there are lots of jade and ocre tones, perhaps you could experiment with giving those sky blues a bit more violet/red-violet and cerulean/turquoise tones, and some purple reflections towards the upper part instead of orangey ones. I think it would complement very nicely. Regards

If an object looks bright purple or pink in Blender it means it's lost the file path to the texture. You can either go into the Image Texture node and manually navigate and specify where the texture is or go to File->External Data-> Find Missing files and then point it to where the texture files are

i followed the steps but instead of showing the texture it showed the color pink, do you know how to fix this ?
@anthonymartin33362 жыл бұрын
this means Blender can't find the texture maps. Either double check that the textures associated with the material have downloaded or go into each image node in the shader editor, click the folder button and then manually browse to the correct texture file

3D Coat feels different from most other types of 3D app so it can be a little harder to get used to. The voxel modelling part of it - the part I like to use - is so different from polygonal modelling, it requires a different way of thinking about constructing 3D objects. But like anything, it's a learned skill that just takes time

@anthonymartin33362 жыл бұрын
@@petertremblay3725 I've worked for over 20 years in the industry myself. For smaller companies producing commercials where we have just a few weeks; to larger companies where we had months to work on complex vfx shots. It would be nice if there was a single piece of software or maybe two that could do everything you needed but that has not been my experience. For example, on a Nike short animated film I worked on Softimage (rip!) was used for animation, Houdini for simulation, ZBrush for most character models, Marvelous Designer for cloth sim. And that's before we even get to compositing! Bare in mind too that what I'm demonstrating here is not for producing a game ready model - it's very much for a concept design process

Anthony, a little bit quicker way to approach the project at this point, would be to RMB click the Voxel layers (in the Sculpt Tree Panel) and choose RETOPO VIA DECIMATION. This will decimate the layer and send it directly to the Retopo Workspace, where you can then Bake via the BAKE Menu > choose AUTO UV in the Import Dialog. This sends a copy of this directly to the Paint Workspace. The great thing about 3DCoat is you can do all of your texturing work (via Vertex Painting on the Sculpt Object) early (before Retopo/Baking) or later. This means you can access high res rock texture scans for free (3DCoat Scan Store) by downloading them and adding to your Smart Materials library > apply them to your Rock object while it is in the High Poly stage and now you have all the depth information stored as a Sculpt Layer (you can adjust the depth level in the layer panel, or adjust locally with a brush, using the Magnify SL or Erase SL brushes. At this point, you can bake the high poly down to the low poly in the Retopo Room (BAKE Menu), and you are ready to tweak/paint or export from the Paint Workspace. I say all of this because you demonstrate doing the texturing in other apps, when it can all be done very capably in 3DCoat before you export to Blender for rendering. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bHzFhIiKd9J9eaM materials.3dcoat.com

@anthonymartin33363 жыл бұрын
Thank you. Animating the clouds to move would probably involve animating the place3Dtexture node and the fractal settings in the cloud shader's attributes

@@anthonymartin3336 Thank you! Animating the texture and the ripples worked well for time lapse. I've tried several different way to achieve this result, but they are all very expensive.
