Hi there :) The idea is to gently use the flat edge to carefully remove any dirt and the oxidized layer that's hindering an effective electrical contact with the pins inside the console. You want a screwdriver with a smooth flat edge otherwise it may scratch, and you're using the lightest of pressure. The contacts aren't bullet proof so it is possible to damage them, but providing you're not using excessive force and scrubbing at them like a lunatic, there's nothing to worry about (especially if you've followed the video to a T). There are people out there that say use an eraser... that has sketchy results. It does work sometimes, however it will return to playing up again and using an eraser will leave a film of rubber compound on the terminals... so you're swapping dirt and oxidization for a patchy film of rubber that may or may not allow electricity to flow depending on what eraser you used and the compound it's made from. A fine grade fiberglass cleaning pencil is the ideal tool, however how many people have one of those to hand... so a flat screwdriver and a gentle touch is what it both optimal for shifting the crud, and being easily accessible for the average person. :) #BoonanaJ

Haha sounds like you got lucky and the external slider jumped back onto the internal slider peg😅 I wouldn't reccomended anyone else trying this though as that's a sure fire way to potentially snap the grey peg off of the volume slider pot inside the console. If that snaps you either put up with fixed/no volume forever or you have to desolder the broken pot and replace it with a new one. Either way it's a pain😅 #BoonanaJ

Since it's still sliding and adjusting the volume you could drill it with a 0.1mm - 0.2mm drill bit if there is enough material still there. Insert a metal pin and use epoxy to rebuild the nubbin. Failing that the only other option is to desolder that slider and replace it. #BoonanaJ

@@MailmanLucario haha what you are smelling is likely residual sugar/sweetener and flavourings like vanilla... you'd be surprised how long the scent can remain and sometimes when dried ice cream comes in contact with water, this reactivates the smells😂😊 #BoonanaJ

Hi, it is annoying when this happens :/ I would still follow this tutorial, clean the battery contacts, clean the pins inside the console and use a little gentle pressure with a small screwdriver to stretch them outwards alittle into the battery bay. Place the batter back and and behind the non contact end I'd place a bit of folded paper just to push the batter forward onto the contact pins a bit more. 99% of the time it is this issue, a clear-brown film fan build up on the contacts, the pins fatigue, and the chassis can warp... all of which cause this issue. Could be that the card is at the end if it's life or damaged... personally I'd just replace it with a brand new one given how cheap smaller SD cards are these days :) Once you've reinstalled everything onto the new card, you could use a PC to copy the files from the old card if you had any save data and that data isn't already corrupted. #BoonanaJ

While I do appreciate every comment people make, the inaccuracy of this comment now finds you in my TED talk of why this was a dumb thing to think and say... To start I'll point out the obvious facts of the video: 1) I already have better soldering irons. 2) It was purchased with my own money. But ok everyone's a sceptic, and there are people out there that do promotions. Yet we also get random muggles that just can't comprehend the truth when it's humping them in the face... So let's considder the prospect of promotion and sponsorship: 1) Parkside are just a brand name for a grocery store who licence the name to a larger industrial company so that they can slap their brand on some generic tools and sell them in store... while this isn't a dispute over the quality of the tools, it's a nightmareish mess from a sponsorship point of view given the products technically belong to the larger company and not the grocery store💁‍♂️ 2) Videos take a lot of time and effort, so why would someone which has CFS/ME spend valuable energy and take the time to create a video about some frankly not very popular brand of tool if the intention was to make money?? The answer is because they wouldn't, it would be stupid to expect any proffits from such a video for many reasons. The topic, tool, and content is pretty niche, so it's surely clear as day that it was created because I wanted to💁‍♂️ 3) If I wanted sponsorship I know many larger companies that would happily do so. "So why don't you do it then I hear you groan from your face hole"... Simple, because if you don't like the product you can't legally say it sucks, and more so, you then have to do a bunch of extra work to make sure that both KZbin and your viewers know it's a promotional video. Yeah that's right... I by law and by KZbin's rules would have to clearly declare this to be a promotion, and do you see "promotion" anywhere, NO... Can you work out why now??🤔🤦‍♂️😅 Let me spell it out... BECAUSE IT'S NOT💁‍♂️😂 If any lawyer did look into it they'd swiftly see I have the flipping receipt and card transaction details to back up the fact that this isn't a promotion, and then they'd investigate with the grocery store franchise to see if they have any affiliation with me... and the answer would be no. Sponsorship with large brands and companies always comes with a contract, so there is always a paper trail. 4) Why on earth would I seek sponsorship for an item that basically cost a tenner... I mean I know I'm not particularly flush with cash, but all that hassle just to get something I could buy for £12!🙃🤷‍♂️ yeah... how about No🙄🤦‍♂️😏 This concludes my TED talk on why this was a dumb thing to think and say💁‍♂️ Hopefully in the future you'll put some more thought into your comments and get to know the person you're talking to first. To everyone else reading this, I hope you've found it entertaining and educational... the OPs comment was so droll and lacking I felt it needed some value adding to it. You're welcome Scott and nice is it a themed / special edition xl or is this the first xl in your collection?😁 Sounds like this is the fix you need and worth repeating a couple of times if it doesn't work at first. If after 2 or 3 times trying and placing a bit of paper behind the non-contact end of the battery doesn't help it could be that the chassis is too severely warped or there is much more serious damage inside... that said, normally there are stress marks or cracks on the outer casing when severe internal damage is present since it's normally caused by an impact or crushing. Be sure to check out the strimmer modification series that's coming out at the moment... it's not the most nuts project but if people like that I intend to start modifying and making some pretty crazy things haha Also going to be including the viewers in votes towards what happens in some projects😁 #BoonanaJ

Sorry to hear about the lost pokemon, sucks when stuff like that happens, but pleased my video helped you fix your problem :) It's daft how these issues haven't been sorted out in later models but most of my videos can be used to fix even brand new Nintendos, so atleast people can fix them. #BoonanaJ

Hi Dustin, this could be a few things but the first thing I would check is the battery... have a look at my squeeze glitch video and apply the techniques I demonstrate in it to your Nintendo 3DSxl as the same methods apply. There will be no harm in trying this if you handle everything with care and this will eliminate any battery issues and some (but not all) chassis warping issues. If that doesn't work, then the next culprit could be a faulty screen cable... with age they can wear out and even snap in places. Even with newer devices, the cable can become faulty or have manufacturing issues. Ah geez just what you want haha, but I have some tips that may work... and when I say may work, I mean they will work, but how much comes off depends on the colour of the 2DSxl, the colour of the marker, and the markers ingredients. First off, protect your screens... get some masking tape that doesn't leave any sticky residue behind and cover them screens. Get a soft cloth that is fine to mess up... an old t-shirt will do providing it is soft cotton. Next, you ideally want isopropyl alcohol but given how too much of this stuff can weaken the plastic, you either want to put 1-3 drops on your cloth, or use the little presoaked medical swabs you can get in the paper/foil sachets. Failing that, most deodorant sprays will work but it MUST be just deodorant and not antiperspirant or you'll cake the console in white powdery yuck. Just a couple short sprays on the cloth is all you need. Get your cloth/swab and use gentle circular motions to gently buff the marker off of the surface. Once it stops shifting the marker and drys up, pick a clean section of cloth or a new swap and repeat the process... keep going until it's all gone, but bare in mind you might not get it all depending on the colours etc as I mentioned before... also keep and eye on the plastic, if it turns a bit white or smears stop leave it to dry for a day then gently whipe it with a dry cloth. The white should just be a hase on top of the plastic but smearing can be the plastic actually melting. #BoonanaJ

Hi Tan, unfortunately the only way to fix the on-board volume slider is to de-solder the current volume slider module and replace it with a brand new variable slide resistor. The little brown/grey nubbin is particularly fragile on these and you're not the only person with this issue, a few of my other subscribers have had this problem😑 It's a frustrating issue... the parts can be hard to find and it requires specialist equipment to do the repair. I'm more than capable of doing the repair work, but most people live far away. #BoonanaJ

Hi Kristian, the outer and inner sliders are a lot different, but the principle is the same so it will work if it is the outer slider that has come off of the inner on-board volume slider... that said with the 3DS models, it is more likley that is is the inner slider that is faulty or broken than it just popping off... have a look first though and give it a try if it is not obviously broken (such as the slider nubbin is broken off if the on-board volume slider pot)😊 Be sure to subscribe and check out the new trailer for what's coming up next! #BoonanaJ
