I think the bump last week is the last one we will see until after the election, I’ve trimmed way back in order to take advantage of the down turn, we usually see it in the second half of August but this year I think it’s happening the second half of July. Lets not forget about the 6-8 Million missing vehicles they did not make in 20--23. We are going to have that gap for a long time. Lots of next to new out there, lots of high mile stuff out there but there is going to be a shortage in affordable miles for a long time. I think the market over corrected on that 20-30k $ Stuff. Then in a few years we are going to see a shortage in older vehicles. Cash for Clunkers remember how it took years to find cheap cars again.

We are finally back to 2018 again, the fundamentals matter, condition, desirability, price point against new, all are fully back in play, 25-30 % of dealers are going to have to relearn the KPI’s and focus on turn, dealers that put in the hard work finding merchandise that fall into these basics are thriving, the rest are scratching their heads, you must pay attention.

We are back to 2018, savvy operators are kicking ass against the mediocre dealers again, I think probably 25% or more of them will have to relearn the fundamentals,condition, desirability, price point against new, turn, all matter again, the good disciplined dealer that stays focused on the hard work it takes to find the right cars will thrive

Stick shifts across the board are going to go up regardless if their convertibles or not. Engine swaps are overrated. People are sick and tired of the issues. Like you've said many times it's got to be stocked to be worth something big

Intrest rates at crazy highs, relatively speaking. Banks have tightened lending. Vehicles have sky-high prices. Calling it normal might be a little bit of a stretch.

Good show John, you mentioned in a previous show what Kenneth Stanley used to say, “Their are no bad cars just bad buys”, I’ve been buying cars for over 40 years and believe that the current cycle is just the tail end of all the stimulus that was pumped into the economy during co-vid. It doesn’t matter what market you trade, late models, mediums3-7 years old or cheapies, you got to own them right and that is tough when you have 35% of used car buyers only being in the biz for 5 years or less, all running on FOMO, it makes the margins even thinner. I think it will take another year of pain before things ease up. Happy buying and selling John

Another awesome report. One thing hurting the next to new is interest rates. Manufactures offering 3.9% on new and bank can only do 7 on a 2023 with 10k miles. Same payment amount buyer is going to buy new every time.
