Can you paint the Bahia drum just like any of the other drums? I am asking since it has a different skin than the white ones.

Sand it lightly, then cover the whole head with acrylic paint and then paint your details on top of that. Varnish at the end. If you have more questions, get in touch, I am a professional drum painter :) The Remo Buffalo drum is easier to paint and sounds better when painted imho. 😊

What about the binding over freet? It's gone? A fully restoration as original should include it😢, this one is not as the original animore, it a very good job, but it not as it was done the guitar from factory, this is a modification that made loose value to the guitar.

Thank you so much, Sam. This was incredibly helpful. I am just researching a uke and thought the concert would be best for me. 70 years old and beginning so thought I would like to size and tone of this one best. Also, wondered how much attention to pay to the look as I am leaning toward the natural wood in mahogany and was so glad you spoke about the emotion attached to the instrument that makes it more enjoyable. Thank you again for reviewing the four types and how the baritone compares to a guitar.

Piano labs and Music Technology labs are EXCELLENT in building a love for music, good musicians, and building stronger brains and fine motor skills! ALL Students had to pass piano (as well as all other requirements in music curriculum) each year from grades 4-8. My Students AND Parents Loved it! Our school became a teacher Training center for several music software companies and opened our lab for free community training in learning piano and composition. We were the only public elementary/JH school in the nation that taught organ to our advanced students. I built complete piano labs between 2 buildings [Grades K-3. 6 piano lab, complete Orff, and 20 computers + Grades 4-8 a complete 30 station MIDI technology lab with 31 MIDI pianos @ with 32 PC computers lab controlled by teacher + 6 LARGE organs (when students passed piano, they went to organ, when passed organ, students played Joliet's Rialto Theatre's million dollar Grand Barton theatre pipe organ) money from grants, fund-raisers, donations] and taught group piano (group piano ideas from Dr. Jackie Wiggins!), individualized piano (Bastien Older Beginner PIano Course), Orff, & World Music Drumming (all purchased from West - Excellent trainer Melissa Blum!), Singing, Movement, music technology (students started with Harmonic Visions' Music Maestro interactive fun software then progressed to Musition and Garage Band , composition (using Sibelius), ++. (Sarah R.)

This is all well and good but... I bought my remo djembe 12" in the mid 90s. I've replaced the head once. I feel like I need a new one. Problem is is that there seem to be a number of replacement heads for this drum with different names. I can't find anywhere anyone who describes the differences. Is there some resource that I can access that talks about the different types of replacement djembe heads for this drum?

Who cares what others think? Case in point: I use a shallow mouthpiece on flugelhorn. People tell me I'm an idiot. I don't care. I do what works for me. I don't need their approval or agreement. They're insecure and can't tolerate someone who breaks from the herd.

Goldmine of information. Thanks Wayne and thanks for posting. I watch James Morrison’s DVD and go to my trumpet thinking yesss! And it’s the same old same old and incredibly frustrating. Watching Wayne is better for me because he shows how much experimentation is required for a mortal like me but also gives pointers for paths to follow.

You can always tell an artist by how they complete an absolutely impossible task and make it look as though it’s done every day by every day people. I’ve seen this process done many times in person and on video. This is an exemplary example of an artist at work.
