Daniel, I am at that same point. I recently had to tell the church I was stepping down from children’s sermons, Sunday School, and church leadership. The contradictions in the Bible, plus the jealous and angry God of the Old Testament, plus the idea of us being born into sin, a sin that God created for us to fall into…well it all required a level of cognitive dissonance I wasn’t prepared to keep accepting. I also have begun questioning the overall good of church, when I see the hatred and bigotry aimed at other groups from church members, the desire to impose your beliefs on others, plus the disproportionate number of church goers that reject gun control, reject vaccinations, reject climate change and reject having the government help the poor.

If you don’t get Christianity it’s probably because you haven’t studied the church fathers, nor the ruling of the magisterium, and you believe everything is in the Bible which makes no sense. Seek help in the Catholic Church, your soul is aching for Christ.

Feels good to think for yourself don’t it? It’s a little suspicious that all these religions and Gods seems to reflect alot of the culture who worships them instead of having a more universal depiction of a God whol loves everyone. I think if there is a God, we’re too stupid to be able to comprehend that being, and i think that’s the reason we have so many religions. Mathemically (statistically) it would be more likely that all of them are wrong rather than only one of them is right. But that’s just me.

I deconstructed from my Christian religious upbringing this year. There are many upon many of reasons why, but the main reasons being was that there was a incredible amount of inconsistencies with pastors translating the scriptures, and insane amount of cherry picking of verses which I found myself doing as well, and also the concept of someone who is a good person, raised in a Hindu home, never had the chance to get to “know Jesus”, the idea that they would burn for eternity. A finite mistake shouldn’t justify an infinite punishment. And I’m not sure that a lot of Christian’s even understand how brutal god is with punishing others in the Bible. The hypocrisy of the church made me really self reflect as well. When I realized the religion was harmful, inconsistent, based on a book that’s been over edited.. I still searched for evidence of the faith. How it’s the “one true religion” and in doing so I found that is not the case, and I ran out of all reasons to believe in it anymore, not one reason to believe.. yet I found hundreds of reasons to doubt it when I actually did my research. It became too much for me to ignore. I can’t unlearn what I’ve already discovered and I know I’ll never believe again. Not unless the christian god himself drops down and proves himself which I believe will never happen, as he isn’t real and man made.

Having walked away from the Truth will bring you more severe consequences.
