First things first. Very nice work, complete and well edited video! And now... Wrong! Everything started with the 1983 flood that left parts of the city almost 5 metres under water. Then the plans to recover the city went beyond the disaster. The Guggenheim Museum WAS ONLY A PART OF THE PLAN. That plan included, among many other projects: - to clean the estuary - a new wastewater treatment plant - the recovery of industrial ground for public use, turned into Etxebarria Park, Euskalduna Auditorium, the Guggenheim, the Itsasmuseum (museum of the sea) - new estuary promenades where railway tracks once stood - new green places (like parks and gardens) - recovery of old (inside the city) factories for civilian uses - creating space for pedestrians and bicycles - the metro system - the tram - make all public transport accesible for PMR (PRM, Persons with Reduced Mobility) - improve the cultural offer each year... Did I heard "Frank Henry"? Frank Gehry. Some expositions there are absolutely fabolous. Others are... an insult to intelligence and towards the real artists (who have no rich friends or contacts). Athletic footballers should be Basques (Spanish Basque Country, the French part or from Navarre) or they must have been trained here. Never say in the Basque Country "pintxos are like taps"... NEVER! Tapas are usually cheap food, generally frozen, easy to cook (fried) and served in a simple way. Pintxos are like miniature cuisine: fresh and quality food, cooked with sometimes very elaborate and very laborious techniques, well presented (not always on a slice of bread). The Basque Country has a cuisine with an international reputation: pintxos are like getting a small sample of a perfume. We have the highest concentration of Michelin stars per capita after Tokyo. PINTXO ≠ TAPAS. Is that clear? 😉 According to different international organisations, Bilbao is one of the safest cities in Europe and one of the best cities to live in (number 1 in Spain by National Geographic). And yes, sometimes is too rainy, but we need that rain in order to have such green mountains. The and the climate is not extreme either during winters or summers. As icing on the cake, we have the coastline a metro ride away, spectacular scenery, free cultural offerings (such as the Blues Festival) and one of the most unique cultures in the world, including the oldest language in Europe. Also one of the best European music festivals every summer, held on a hilltop overlooking the estuary and the city. Can you ask for more from such a small city? Thanks again for the video!
