Just seen it n guurrl I was curled up in a ball hunched over my phone yes I did cry. I know the week (election week) is always stressful I can still feel it even tho I’m not American and just sigh yeah that… that was crap, is crap. Love that at least some of ur family are on the same page and are supportive n understanding. I hate that a country I used to idolise and all the people there are feeling shit cause of that. I get it I’m afraid of it I just wanna wake up from this nightmare now!!! For those that noticed: Yes this name is far removed from my preferred/chosen it’s a genuine struggle but whatever for now

They have everything on the website and it’s usually pretty accurate! Also kcai is very good about giving out scholarships! If you’re still thinking about transferring you should! As a student I love it at kcai!

i’m 2 years late to responding lol but you can find diversity stats on google! it kinda depends i came from a much more reserved/less diverse background in high school n such so for me it was an improvement, however there is def still a majority white presence on campus and has been some issues in how they treat non-men staff, and allowing students to protest, etc. there is certainly still a ways to go.

Im working on my portfolio but it seems so subpar compared to others i see online :(. Im afraid I'm not creative enough. This is my dream school though so im super scared.

honestly looking back i don’t feel like i had the strongest portfolio. i didn’t get accepted to risd but i did here and saic so it’s pretty subjective. just do your best and try to showcase as many technical skills as you can!

i use mine alll the time for digital art and especially with online classes now. i don't think you necessarily need a mac but some sort of laptop.

thats actually my major! it's a pretty heavy work load but if you enjoy it then its not too bad. first semester of sophomore year is all hand drawn and after that you can work in any medium. also getting a new animation building fall 2020 so thats exciting.

these are the old dorms! as of january 2020 the new dorms will be lived in and the old ones are being converted to illustration and animation buildings ☺️

i think the acceptance rate is around 60%. i wouldn’t be too worried! you have a lot of time to improve before applying. my portfolio was a mix of paintings, drawings, sculpture, digital, etc. but if you just focus on one medium that’s ok too.

Hey homeslice. I got accepted to KCAI and I'm debating on if I should go. I'm curious as to how you're handling tuition costs. I've got my FAFSA filled out, plus the 16k that you get for being accepted. I still have an estimated 25k that I need to figure out what to do with. Any suggestions??

honestly i begged the school for money haha. i got a decent amount of federal aid and ending up getting a generous amount from the school. i’ll have loans to pay off in the future, and every semester i have to pay a little out of pocket, but i got it down to a manageable number. i would say to ask the school about your available aid, explore outside scholarships, etc. i really enjoy being at this school so i think if you can find a way to pay for it, you should go!

i can do a dorm tour when im back from break! also they are building new dorms which will be done in 2020, so your second semester. I know they will be much nicer than the ones im living in! as for storage i would say use the space under the beds to your advantage. and just dont overpack haha.

i think the acceptance rate is around 60%. i wouldnt worry about it and just give it a try! you can definitely get in based on photography alone. you dont have to be good at every medium. good luck!

Jana Henderson kansas city is a 3 hour drive from my home town, so nothing too far away. i applied to a few other schools and kcai offered me the most financial aid, which is probably the main reason i chose to go here. and i guess i just liked the overall feel of the campus :)

I’ve just recently had the pleasure of having a speaker for KCAI come to my graphic arts class, to to say the least, I’m so intrigued. I’ve always had a passion for art but i never really thought there would ever be a art institute that seemed so.. professional? Maybe that’s not the right word. I’m seriously considering applying.
