It's interesting to learn that Steve Reich was influenced by this when composing _"Music for 18 Musicians"_ which also inspired Tangerine Dream's soundtrack for the 1983 film Risky Business - _"Love On A Real Train"_

I like the sound of gamelan music. There's a surreal & hypnotic quality to it.

As Filipino I wish I had experience pure Austronesian culture without Spaniards and Western colonization no more influence by Religious like Christianity or Muslim.. until now Indonesian (bali) experience beautiful historical culture and they ought to be proud of it ❤

Bali is heavily influenced by Hinduism… not pure “Austronesian” Look up Toraja people, their culture is almost “pure”, only they’re practising Protestantism.

My newborn foal, I named her Ratih (Semara Ratih) because I've wanted to give that name to my horse's offspring.... , because Ratih, javanese / balinese lunar goddes represents grace and beauty. Semara means love. So..., all the good wishes for my newboard foal :) And I googled up "Semara Ratih", pretty sure some artistic group use that name. Ratih is an elegant and favorite name in java / bali. I was not wrong, and here I am :) I've seen this video years ago but didnt check the name of the group back then. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eYK3oH6CosuUhKssi=5jxKqD6vKy4obP4b

Kumpi on kauheampaa? Soittaa "sielutonta tanssimusiikkia", jonka lyriikka on sitä samaa. Vai tämä ei-ollenkaan-tanssittava-kappale, jota laulaja laulaa "sydämettömästi" Vaika me olemme kaikki samanlaisia "sivustakatsojia" ja tulemme varmaan ainakin jonkin verran olemaan!

This gamelan genre specifically is relatively modern. Kebyar genre started in the early 1900s. Older genres of Balinese gamelan tends to be declining towards extinction
