Could you help sort something out for me? I am giving a presentation on the Kyoto protocol for school, and i thought your information on the the Australia Clause and the free loading that the prime minister at the time was able to get away with was really interesting, but I wanted to get a graph and data to cite for my presentation. But when I went to the Our World in data graphs and used their Annual CO₂ emissions including land-use change map, 1990 was one of the lowest emitting years, and by 1997 Australia was nearing a 200% increase, peaking at an over 300% increase in 2010, right in the middle of the deadline period. And according to the most recent data, Australia hasn't actually hit their Kyoto Protocol goal of reaching 108% of the 1990 emissions data. So I was curious where that discrepancy is? Is "land-use change" not the right data to look at? Or what? If you do take the time to answer my question thank you so much! If not I hope you have a lovely day!

@chrismcgrath5555 Thank you!! I am in W.A. and one of my current units is Environmental Policy and Law, I have to summarize the Protection of the Sea (Prevention of Pollution from Ships) Act 1983, I had no idea where to start until I watched this lecture! Thank you for being a guiding light and explaining the evolution of international environmental regulation.

And yet the Federal Govt forgot the powers of parliament when it came to Covid… it just shows how totally corrupt politicians and laws are in Australia as govt only really act in what is beneficial to themselves.

How the High Court of Australia did not See why that new 1983 Commonwealth Act Law was snuck in for is a Insult to States Rights Issues every where. Shame on them, the Judges who turned a Blind-Eye to that and Voted to Stop the Franklin Dam made a huge error in there Judgement it near borders on Corrupt.

Strange mixture of footage here, most of it is of Canberra and her crew but there is lots of shots of Westralia crew inspecting a ship with the customs guys and Wally was off escorting Lena when Canberra picked up Volga.

The High Court should of Rejected that 1983 Commonwealth ACT Law that the Commonwealth SNUCK-IN as they should of took in account why they did that. The Real Issue was States Rights Issues and that should of over ruled the Commonwealth every time. The High Court of Australia should hang it's Head in Shame with there Dumb Ass Decision that now has Effected the Whole of Australia's Power Needs.

I agree with pretty much everything said here but now let’s see a lecture on the environmental damage caused by renewable industry wind and solar farms as well as biofuel sector - because they are enormously environmentally destructive as well.

Those in Canberra, Namely Abbott claims we have a responsibility to allow People in India to have Electricity supply. What utter NONSENCE. People in India have an elected Government, the same as we have here. We have no responsibility for Electricity in any other Country but our own. And Liberal's have left us in tatters with that. This mine is in the middle of The Great Artesian Bore, our most important water supply on the East Coast. Liberals see no problem risking this vital water source because the Dollar is worth more than the environment. Morrison claims Australia is meeting it's target with the Paris Agreement, Doe that include the allowance of the Adani Super Mine?, I think not. Warnings about our Barrier Reef are falling on deaf ears with these Liberal's, every one else is wrong except them. Get them out of Government, for the sake of OUR environment alone.
