13:21 the captain does a poor job explaining it here, it's very relevant to current generative AI stuff like ChatGPT and such but not explained well in this game.

The ending of this episode is what really made this game stand out for me. The writing isn't the best but the concept/idea behind it is quite cool and was executed rather well.

I don’t care how obvious this twist was to you-is well done and weird to experience the controls fighting back. Plus now it opens up new gameplay and puzzle mechanics. The faraday cage is probably my favorite part of this game!

Glad to see you playing this finally! This game has some interesting concepts in it, though not the best puzzles. Still, I quite enjoyed my time with it. 2:07 👀 2:27 🤔 17:09 oopsie, seems the writers didn't get the memo about removing problematic terminology from programming and such... that's not how it would be referred to in the future XD

22:45 well that's a neat puzzle, I thought the final one would be more challenging than that. But maybe I'm a bit skewed on difficulty, since this looks to me like just putting together a bunch of smaller pieces. I think it's well-made for sure though. The ending is pretty much what I expected after seeing the hint about the office pet being rewound after going near the entropy device, but it doesn't fully explain why the protagonist has almost no memories at all instead of just remembering what she would have at the point she got rewound to. There's a lot of strange fuzziness and inconsistency to the rewind logic throughout the story and gameplay. For example the reactor self repair doesn't rewind the player, and also isn't initially active, despite the rest of the Entropy Centre seemingly being unaffected by the rewind. I'm honestly not sure what the point of the reactor subplot is anyway. It's a cool game but the pacing issues and mediocre writing make it tough to recommend. The latter third has some cool puzzles but there's a lot of filler and cringy dialogue to slog through to get there. The lack of any alternate endings is also rather unsatisfying. I feel like the main puzzle mechanic has a lot of cool potential that went unexplored as well though, maybe someday we'll get a QUBE 2 situation with an Entropy Centre 2.

Genuinely curious…what would you change to improve the pacing? I’m no good at creative story-telling etc so I am eager to learn from as many people as I can
@LB_26 күн бұрын
@@elytron6758 I have a feeling maybe the dev was trying to give the player some mental breaks with the combat sections, but I think if someone wants a mental break from a puzzle game they should just pause it and resume later. Having to juggle two entirely different styles of gameplay in a single game makes it more difficult to balance the pacing and increases the likelihood that the player will dislike one or the other. It is good to have some variety in a game, but not when the variety is take-your-time puzzles mixed with limited-time combat gauntlets. It also reduces the belief in the story when an amnesiac protagonist keeps dying to seemingly arbitrary assaults from killer robots, and is implied to have done this all many times before with conditions worsening each time. The combat sections don't really add to the gameplay, they cast doubt on the story, and they wreck the pacing IMO. Others might have different feelings though.

The puzzles in this map pack are actually pretty clever and *really* creative, but there are a few really weird design choices that kind of annoyed me throughtout. Mostly in the last level (that final timer is SOMETHING ELSE). A lot of sections in this feel sort of "good idea bad execution" to me.

Hm, definitely a bit of a strange one, though maybe not as crazy as some of the other entries. Interesting how so many P1 assets are used despite some of the engine mechanics (like portal shots being instantaneous) are clearly from P2. If not for that one platform at 17:50 I might have thought this one was tame!

Yeah, this is more of what I wish the whole DLC was like. I appreciate the laser-centric Orpheus part, but from what I hear Abyss is laser-heavy too, which is a shame because there are so many tools besides lasers. At least I get some of that with Isle of the blessed
