This song is so emblematic of that era summer of 1982 It catches the vibe of Southern California in the summertime. It was literally a contemporary version of that Beach Boys vibe and if you're familiar with the Beach Boys endless summer vibe you know exactly what I mean. This is the song that could be on endless repeat in the background throughout the summer time on any Southern California beach whether you're writing your ATC (yeah this was before quads) playing volleyball surfing or just scoping out the chicks (yeah I'm a chick but we were still scoping chicks back then too). This song is California summertime perfection and I just can't get enough. My goal is to learn how to play this on 12-string acoustic with a loop so I can tap in with the six string on the lead. Don Henley sang about the boys of Summer, Van Halen lived it, They were The Boys of Summer ☀️🌴🌊

No one on earth has had more fun playing the guitar than Eddie... He never ever looked put upon, or ambivalent when he played....just that smile that says "this is fun'

Cool.....another gem to enjoy Thank goodness the Jimi Hendrix estate didn't own any of this material or we'd have more luck swimming t8 Mars than hearing any of this without a 5 mile high paywall

Dave struggles on this tape but has great character. Good thing Mike was around to help sing. Super cool to hear this version and you can hear the change to the album version.

Wow. That pedal/flanger/whammy bar effect -- whatever it is -- at the 2.40 mark is awesome! That should have been part of the version that appeared on VH I. What is the name of the track at the very end? It sounds like they were going into the beginning of an early version "DOA". Thanks for uploading this.

I'm actually not sure what to say...but, is it just me or should whomever is singing needs to contact Alex and Pete Thorn and Michael and Sammy and see if they would like to HONOR THE GOAT and his lasting legacy...PROPERLY ONE LAST AND GLORIOUS TIME with Wolfgang's blessings (and hopefully participation) ...just saying ❤

In concert you could smell the Coke in Eddie’s sweat but you’d never see or hear anything like it again! You can watch videos but the energy of a Van Halen concert is like nothing else!

It's about time you change the title of this video and stop the misinformation. This was recorded in 1978 during the VH2 sessions. The drum sound is almost identical to the VH2 sessions, and not the 1980 sessions like people thought because of the alternate version titled "red zone". This was DEFINITELY not 1981, and I'm not sure where you decided you had the authority to decide that as the dropbox leaks didn't include the year. Please just change it so all of these commenters can stop with the Fair Warning comments

I wish Eddie had been more prolific during his life. Neal Shon has put out several solo albums, worked with Jan Hammer and Sammy Hagar and made an album with Carlos Santana. Eddie did a fraction of all these things. Of course, the last 20 years of his life he had to contend with reoccurring cancer. He should have put out unreleased music from the 5150 vault.

I’m hearing some influences from Tony Williams Lifetime. Tunes like Snakebite and Red Alert, which would make sense since Eddie was a Holdsworth fan.

I had not thought of that, but good call regarding lifetime influence. I "believe it"
