We just added elevated train, and just tip I discovered thru trial n error, if you use combo of 1x2, and 2x2 jumper plates, depending where support lands on baseplate, you can make supports all be locked onto baseplates, even ones on the curves (this is where 1x2’s come in handy😉) like you can make center of bottom of support line up with the jumper stud to lock on, takes little trial n error with moving jumper around till u line up right spot for each, but it holds it all together great
@letstalkaboutlego197911 күн бұрын
@@BrickBuildersMD Absolutely. Jumpers are great for that!
@DanielEstes8811 күн бұрын
Yes, that looks great. I did think that, but thought it might be a little more challenging, if you moved the tracks directly over the road. If you wanted to dress up the supports that are under the tracks/over the road, you could add signs so the drivers can see/read them while not paying attention to what's in front of them. It might be too big for words. Maybe pictures? Signs of what is up ahead?

Why not use the little 2x2 turntable pieces to connect odd angles of the curved tracks to the standard grid where they line up?
@letstalkaboutlego197911 күн бұрын
I have done that before but I kinda liked the suggested idea of just letting it sit on tiles and not connected. What do you think?
@FelipeVinhao12 күн бұрын
I replied to your comment while watching this video. I think I can explain better what you asked before, plus something other people suggested: - The elevated line is almost like I imagined it, the only difference is that I though both directions running along (8-stud gap between them), and placed exactly on top of the roads instead of on top of railroads, as this way you could save some support pieces, and avoid hiding the visibility of the road - at least from the angle you record it, it "disappears" a little - Maybe moving the bike lane to the opposite sidewalk would help it become more visible on videos too
@letstalkaboutlego197911 күн бұрын
Ahh...ok. The primary reason I'm running it over the ground line directly is because that way it won't take any additional room on the platform than the ground line already does. If I were to run it separately, I would lose more space for buildings and other structures. Unless you just meant running it over the road until the road runs out and then switching back over the tracks? I'm not sure how easy that would be either... I sincerely appreciate your input!

The pillar look great. Although it does look off because it's too plain. Making it a tunnel, I think, is too much . Maybe, if it's possible, make it look like vines are growing up the pillars. It would add color and plants to the area.

@letstalkaboutlego197914 күн бұрын

@ramakho14 күн бұрын
You might want to tack down the elevated line I f a jumper plate can line up underneath in an artistry’s or two. As for the curve that needs support why not do what you did over the road, but over the track?
@letstalkaboutlego197914 күн бұрын
I likely will do the same thing as I did for the road, but on a smaller scale.
@FelipeVinhao15 күн бұрын
Maybe one solution would be placing both direction over a single beam over the road, supported by pillars on each sidewalk, similar to elevated lines of Chicago or New York, and split again when reaching the new city section. This way you don't cover the railroad on the border of your table - and avoid cats to knock it down. 😸
@letstalkaboutlego197912 күн бұрын
Do you mean similarly to what I ended up doing?
@FelipeVinhao12 күн бұрын
@@letstalkaboutlego1979 Kind of. The only difference is that the elevated tracks would be exactly over the road, and not over the heavy railroads.
@ken4edwards15 күн бұрын
To cross the road, use a very long suspension bridge. Also consider changing the train to the new area to be a single line, the same line going in and out with a trunaround at the end.

Build a tunnel parallel to the road and top it with tiles for the track to just sit on top. If you don’t want a solid structure use the trusses and the supports you’re using now and tile top technic bricks across the road.
@letstalkaboutlego197911 күн бұрын
That kinda like what I did, except I didn't use technic bricks.

To support your raised line over the road you could put supports where they fit on each side of the road and have a wide arch between them to support the wider stretch of track or some kind of girder bridge there. For the mountain a mix of light grey, dark grey and sand green bricks makes a more realistic looking rockface.
