I just reconnected with this song after so many years and it brings back a lot of powerful emotions I had growing up towards my dad disappearing, the constant need to get better at violin, and the struggles, pains, and anxieties I had while growing up. My dad got me my first violin when I was 8 shortly before he disappeared from my life forever, and Nuttin' But Stringz was my biggest source of inspiration as a young musician. Since then, I've performed in all-city and all-state orchestras, honors ensembles, and chamber ensembles across the country. Now, 18 years later, I'm teaching 150 beginner string students starting at the same age I did. I can't bring my dad back, but I can try my best to inspire the next generation of string players.
