You have to play online to better realize your ROI in larger fields. You can play thousands of tournaments per year. You can't play enough live tournaments in a lifetime to determine how good you are or ARE NOT at large fields. That being said... the best of the best tournament players are crushing reguarly in large fields. Most of us will never get to that level.

Nailed it. And while some of those best of the best are elite and have figured out something special. Some of them are just great players in a world of survivorship bias.

Darn it buddy - you do know how to crush dreams. But I totally agree, thinking of playing large field tourneys and make money is a DREAM, not a sustainable goal/plan. I am attracted to the big GTD, but you need to play 6-7 hours just to make min-cash. You making me rethink my poker plan for 202 and Im thinking about categorizing poker time between cash, small tourney, and shot taking - Big Tourneys. Love it

Don’t get rid of them. Just approach them differently. Have a tourney of the week or a tourney of the day get hyped for it. But fill in around it with the stuff that sustains you.

Yes, great advice. I’ve been trying not to play all week except BetOnDrew home games and Fridays loncar HG and Boskis on Friday and Saturday. Selective games every other Sunday. I feel fresher instead of clicking buttons

Think we are putting out some misinformation here or are just not informed about the industry. Yes, some specific online websites have had issues in the past of cheating (specifically ignition) but every other site is fairly clean/ still beatable although much tougher than live obviously. But to say online cash in general is unbeatable for most part is just an untrue statement.
@RobGardnerLive
@RobGardnerLive 2 күн бұрын
I wouldn’t say it’s unbeatable. I can beat the 50 NL games on global and 25nl on acr. But once you start moving into stakes where the money is meaningful the amount of collusion and RTA go up dramatically.
@Yourbestfriend972
@Yourbestfriend972 2 күн бұрын
@@RobGardnerLive I am not trying to be disrespectful, but this is just not true. You are not going to be winning at a huge clip compared to some tournament wrs but games on global and WPN both are beatable at 200nl and up. As you go up it gets much tougher but to blame it on RTA is just a cop out.

What about becoming live cash player and use the winnings to bankroll your tournaments?
@RobGardnerLive
@RobGardnerLive 3 күн бұрын
You can certainly attempt this, the biggest challenge is the styles are very different. So I would want to be very confident in your tournament style and it not changing, before really digging into cash games, unless your cash foundation is very solid. Essentially you want to only be "actively" working on one of two formats at a given time, so as long as one is in a good place.

Goal 1 study - 2x30 min sessions from my bought in the past plans(rewatching and taking notes this time) plus additional 30 minutes going over my hands in GTO Wizard (and uploading all my hands, even from low stage "punting" league games - got to learn how to punt :) Goal 2 - Mental health - (A)start using the CALM subscription I bought for myself month ago, and (B) play poker with minimum distractions - quality over quantity. 3 days of NO POKER per week -I wonder if you can "turn off" ACR on Mondays, Tuesday and , and Saturdays till 6PM :) And play only every other Sunday - family time Goal 3 - Read One chapter a day of ANY book. If missed a day, next two days 2 chapters. Thanks Rob for letting me tag along your journey.

well said. "Participating" in studying/watching, and actually learning is two different concepts. people learn on the "wrong level" Learning from Pros and playing Micro stakes, and getting frustrated if it didn't work. Or playing GTO strategy against Non-GTO players.

I get tilted when I’m vs players making several mistakes pre and post and I know I’m no good and they can’t be bluffed so I have to overfold, and even when I’ve been playing tight I still go multiway and have to make a hand to win a pot, but somehow when I do get a hand I get no action. Even when every fold is correct, it has a cumulative effect so it makes me question whether I should’ve found a bluff at some point, if not to win that hand but to get action when getting a big hand later
@hubcio96
@hubcio96 24 күн бұрын
I also have "I am on tilt" tilt, or pissed of Titl - is when the player is on a draw and he gets there, and I know they did, and I call or rise out of spite... It's like giving a player a "finger" while punching yourself below the belt at the same time. = Im weird

Omg!!! This is so true!!!! It’s scary!!!! I battle with it every single day. How I combat it is taking a day or 2 off for balance. No study or play. Just life stuff or family. Then come back to study first then play. I don’t study I don’t play

I just found out that you can put a real time HUD overlay of your opponents' tendencies on during the game. That seems almost like cheating. Do most low stakes players even know about this? I know I'm totally new, but this seems like taking candy from a baby.
@RobGardnerLive

I would say it’s decently well known. But some sites don’t allow this. For example global poker and gg poker. So there are places with more of a level playing field if consumers want.
