This was confusing, without enough detailed explanation Entrance at the top to see the bees entering. The split in the second (larger) box has no separation bars for splitting? First I've seen with a honey "super" on the bottom! (It's not really a super if it's not on top lol). Why on the bottom? It looked like the clear panel was complete, above the honey. How do the bees get down there?

Very interesting video. Just learned about Mariola bees as they are called in Central America and I'm trying to find out if they could do well in south Texas. Great video, very informative.

I feel very blessed to have multiple types of native bees on my property. I think it's because I'm one of only a few in the area that DOESN'T use any chemicals. There's at least half a dozen different types of natives here, including lots of bluebanded darlings. All different types, all different sizes, from big to tiny. Amazing to find in a farming community, big commercial farms around, lots of chemicals used. My place seems more of a sanctuary for them. My other place over an hour away is a full bush block. I have seen the Blue bands there too, along with many others. One day about 5 or 6 yrs ago when I was taking a closer look at the native smaller plants, I saw something I never thought I would see outside of a book or my dreams. I watched for a couple of fleeting minutes a Neon Blue Cuckoo Bee. No mistake! To this day I am still awe-inspired by that sight. This is not QLD or Northern NSW or near the coast. This is inland Southern NSW. Hot summers to well above 45°c in the shade and winters from mild -3°c to -8°c frosts. Pretty tough little blighters aren't they? Some other natives even try nesting in the wheel hub of the trailer that hasn't moved for the last 3yrs. I don't know where you're situated, but best of luck from Southern NSW 🐝🇭🇲🦘🙏🦘🇭🇲🐝

Hi Nick I am trying to find someone who can assist me with getting a hive of native stingless bees for my flower farm located on the NSW South Coast. Can you advise if there is anyone that you are aware of that would have a hive split available later this year? I watched your episode here about Canberra and that you didn’t usually send bees down this way and am unsure whether this many years later whether you do this now. Many Thanks Theresa

It looks like they chased that little phorid fly back out of the entrance. They certainly move fast compared to the native bees. Nice little video Nick thanks for sharing 👍🐝🍯

Stingless bee honey is the only honey which is categorized as medicine and the rest of honeys are categorized as food

Hi Nick, how are you going? Are you still doing bee research and development? I live in Queensland and have carbonaria hives. I’ve noticed a decline in local tree hives. Large trees that once had hives now are empty. Have you heard of this and what would cause this? Only cause I have concerns about something happening to my hives.

4:27 prevention of soldier fly is the same as mimic fly - but what is the prevention for mimic fly? I watched the mimic fly part a number of times and it does clearly state its a secondary issue but I still don't detect any specific prevention? I've resorted to patrolling my hives and administering a highly directional narrow tube spray onto the mimic flies (have killed about 6 over the past week) but its very time consuming and I won't be able to continue this when back at work, and am trying to get my hives back to maximum health but the phorids keep hanging around. I've been advised not to use a phorid fly trap as it was explained this might just keep brining more phorids, but I'm starting to run out of ideas (and am trying to divide my time between my 3 year old and saving our 2 hives) =(
