Nice build. How are you accessing the battery for charging? I have a zagi that needs a re-cover and a mothership 6’ wing. I fly potm salt lake. I want to hit Dave’s in the spring. I’ve always wanted to fly socal beaches. (I also have nib zagi for some future build when zagi 1 dies)

It’s just a hatch I made from foam that I can lift up and access all electronics. I tape it down for flight

Thank you very much for the video, it is super useful because it shows how the flight characteristics are at different wind speeds. I am considering either the Weasel or the Alula, and I think it will be the Alula.

Nice flight! And an especially good looking and very functional main parachute!! What type is that? And what size / number of shroud lines etc. Excellent! Steve on 4 Sept 2024
@mindofwij74432 ай бұрын
It’s a custom chute I had made. 36” disk gap band. 24 shroud lines I believe! I also have a 6ft version for some bigger rockets, they are very cool looking and super stable.

Very nice! Do you have plans for addressing the spin on launch? The view is amazing!
@mindofwij74433 ай бұрын
Thank you! No plans for addressing spin.. This rocket (Athena) is just a fun rocket used for trying new components, and electronics. I have some other rockets that are much more dialed in and built for performance. Current project is a minimum diameter 54mm build that I will be making some build videos of soon!!
@paulgreblick2 ай бұрын
I'm new to this stuff, so how would you, if you wanted it to not spin?
@mindofwij74432 ай бұрын
@@paulgreblick This rocket has a few drawbacks. The camera shroud is somewhat big, and it’s a split fin design. Any minor misalignment causes spin. Symmetry is key for flying straight. Building the fins using templates and jigs to keep them straight while they dry is very beneficial. I now make 3d printed fin jigs to hold them in place and perfectly aligned while drying.
@dotancohen2 ай бұрын
@@paulgreblick Reaction wheels and cold gas thrusters. No, I'm kidding, usually one of the fins has an electrically-actuated stabilizer.

It's probably easier with video editing software to make the footage not spin, than to make the rocket not spin 😂@@paulgreblick

Nice cat. This made me get my Raider off the wall. It still flies perfectly. Pretty cool. For the last 4 years, I've been flying my M60 and Weasel at Dog Beach, Huntington Beach, and Temple Hill, Pomona. I never see anyone else, ever. The combat days are long gone. Nothing lasts forever. (except for my Raider)

@@mindofwij7443 Dave's beach is very nice. It was there that I flew my first slope glider. A Windrider Bee. My girlfriend used to live in San Diego so I'd always stop there and fly. Most of the guys that fly there have known each other forever. Pretty cool group of guys.

Back in 1998 I got both my cert 1 and 2 in the same day. I studied and passed my cert 2 test first then on launched day I flew both my 1 and 2 rockets. No fiberglass, no electronics and no software. I flew a Kosdon I motor and a Kosdon J motor. I never got to finish my cert 3 rocket, I was 19 and couldn’t afford to finish the project at the time. If anyone is going to do their 1 and 2 flights don’t over think it. Cheers
