can you claim loss of potential earings? you could've spent that time at a different market or selling online and making a lot more money and the organizers are responsible for it

I definitely agree!! I’m not sure about that but I’m definitely taking this as a learning experience as it was my first free event and will probably not attend any more free ones in the future! Unfortunately in my in my area markets are kinda sparse and don’t end up having good traffic usually. Still trying to find the ones that are actually worth going but as of right now I think I’m going to be focusing on my website 😊

I heard summer markets are not that great. Fall and holiday themed should be much better. I live in a small town in Il and will be doing my first market in September 😅

Yeah, summer markets are definitely hit or miss. This one had a lot of potential had I not been placed in that awful spot away from everything. In my experience fall markets have done the best for me. Sending you good vibes for your first market!!

Definitely! I think the idea is to have a nice free event to support local businesses/ my town in general. It could’ve been an really awesome event had I not been in such an awful spot/ awful organization😅 Definitely makes me weary of free events now.

my recommendation for the BEST FAN ON THE PLANET lol YES it really is THAT good is the Ryboi 7" whisper quiet battery operated fan the battery is rechargeable and it blows any USB rechargeable fans out of the water!! one 4 amp hour battery can run the fan on medium for over 12 hours. Then you just recharge the battery. I have the Ryobi 150 watt inverter and it runs my lights for a night market. I can recharge my square reader/phone/tablet or I even run my hot glue gun with it. I am handicapped so I usually do the longer events because I cannot handle the set up and breakdown in such a short time frame. I do hot hair balloon festivals that go for 3-4 days and the longest day is 10 hours so I do have to recharge my devices during the events. The Ryobi products are definitely an investment but they work for more than just markets. These are amazing for power outages, Hurricane season, etc. LOVE LOVE LOVE My Ryobi and right now is Ryobi days at home depot so you can purchase the batteries and get the fan free!!

I really hope the event organizers see your post, because that's so unprofessional and you said it perfectly, they shouldn't be planning events if they can't handle it. At least you got some sales though

this is why I refuse to make the popular items because there are so many crocheters who are joining markets. at this point I am annoyed but have no choice to deal with it cause it is my full time job n make myself stand out tbh. I also try to join events asking beforehand if there is more than a certain amount

Definitely! I would for sure be more annoyed if I had paid to be at this event and then find out that there’s 10 other crocheters. But I’m interested to see how this one will go. I will definitely have to ask beforehand from here on out because events in my area aren’t the best tbh.

So glad you’re back congrats on your wedding! In those situations just make sure you have some unique patterns don’t do what everyone does! And do lots of embroidery eyes because a lot of people don’t and make sure when people come in explain the whole safety eye thing! And while your there talk your head off to other vendors, I do some events with other vendors so that we can have a good stock of different things and also be able to communicate what one another markets we’re attending

Having all crocheters in the same vacinity is good for people who are only shopping for crochet items. When I to to a market there are items I am not interested in and I have to walk past many in order to see what I went for. I feel bad for the vendors I don't show interest in. All the people just walking by them.

And regardless of what they’re all selling, there is going to be something that sets each person apart and makes customers by from you. That competition should cause vendors to make a better product. But i do agree they shouldn’t have more than, maybe, 3…if it’s a big enough market to have 3

@kimberlyhelmick386 Agreed! Definitely going to let my products and display speak for themselves. The organization of booths is just really throwing me off because there’s a group of crocheters in one area and then there’s also other crocheters spread around? The event will be over 200 vendors so I guess idk if 10 crocheters seems like a lot but it kind of does to me. Nonetheless, I’m still excited to have another market and interested to see how it goes!

@@ggcreatesshop, I'm sorry about that but you seem like a very sweet person and I would pay more to buy from someone like that as opposed to someone arrogant or rude. If possible, find other places that won't have too many crocheter. Also, if you didn't already, maybe talk to the coordinator about it. If you said you did in your video, I missed that part.
