I have to do an oil pump on a 2018 2.7 The front timing cover doesnt have an actual seal. Just the silicone sealant from toyota. Is thag correct?
@pv2smurfАй бұрын
Yes, no seal you have to use rtv. I would NOT recommend using the red/orange high temp because I always end up with a leak that way
@codymoreland4496Ай бұрын
@pv2smurf okay thanks. I bought everything direct from oem toyota lexus. So hopefully it's all good stuff. I also bought the all data manual and diagrams for the job. It states 19.5 hours labor total. I'm hoping to be a bit faster than that. 🤣
@pv2smurfАй бұрын
The total labor is so much because the Toyota manual states you have to remove the engine from the truck to do this job. I have done the job successfully 3 times without removing the engine.

@@pv2smurf Some say it is debris in the trigger mech. Worth a try. Thanks for the reply..................................After doing the trigger snaps to no change, I used compressed air and blew it out esp in the trigger area. was prepared to disassemble but now it seems to be working (so far lol). Anyway, I want to thank this channel it did lead me to what might be the answer .

Why would one want to get rid of the diff?!
@pv2smurf3 ай бұрын
This video explains how to install a spool type locker which causes both axles to turn at the same time. That is why you would change/modify the diff from the open differential that comes from factory/stock
@Jake_Szuwalski3 ай бұрын
@@pv2smurf Exactly my question, why would one want it?
@pv2smurf3 ай бұрын
To add traction to increase for off road applications
@Jake_Szuwalski3 ай бұрын
@@pv2smurf You use an e-locker for that. With no diff it handles poorly on any paved/concrete/tarmac surface. Wears tires and puts stress on the half axles.

I tried the trigger flick and using a zip tie on it overnight. Nothing worked and I had to trash it. It has to do with the distance the trigger reflects back to is too far. From what I've found online

Hello. How did you put the timing cover back on? Is there a tool to help put it on the crankshaft? I’m having a hard time getting it on. Thank you.

No tool, the oil pump probably isn't lined up correctly. Once it is, it'll slide right over

I took my Tacoma to the dealer for a servicing and they charged me 1200.00. They didn’t even change the transmission and rearend fluids like I requested. I felt totally ripped off. I was so shocked, I couldn’t even speak. Needless to say I never went back. This video helps the DIY person. Best of luck!

Will be doing this in the coming future, got a head gasket leak at 270k. Thank you so much for the help brother
@truthserum53105 ай бұрын
Haynes manuals sucks!!! Get yourself the Toyota Books. Water consumption is the intake ports on cylinder 1 & 2 on the head are close to 3 coolant ports. Over time, and with lack of coolant maintenance, the coolant eats away the aluminum between these ports and the gasket causing coolant to leak into the intake ports on 1 & 2, thus consuming coolant. The front engine crank seal doesn't ride on the crankshaft, it rides on the shaft of the balancer pulley, and can cause grooves on the balancer shaft. The rear main seal rides on the crank, and can groove the crank as well.

I'm no plumber (as stated in the video) but after over a year I've had zero issues to date with any of the manabloc. To me the peace of mind of not having ANY FITTINGS whatsoever within the walls, really helped me make the decision to install one of these.

You can, but other videos (as I mentioned in the video) show multiple others laying the wheel down on the brake rotor/sprocket and hammering it out OR laying the wheel spokes on something and hammering.

Hello Y’all, After listening to this presentation, I went ahead and did my first oil and diff changes. I will say firsthand. Kawasaki had the drain bolts on so tight that I had to use a half inch drive and most of my strength to get them loose ! So for those of you are being anal retentive like me and buy a low end torque wrench for the Kawasaki specifications, I say don’t waste your money and just snug the drain bolts up really good . Also, watch out for residual dripping from filling up your diffs. If you’re like me, you’ll fill it up till she pours out and then the fluid will drip down on the drain plugs teasing you that it’s leaking but it’s really not. OK that’s my take and I’m no weakling. I go to the gym every day and trust me. Those drain bolts were on super Duper tight so I don’t know why Kawasaki specifies all these high-tech torch ratings for these drain plugs because they certainly don’t adhere to their own guidelines ! One last thing if you’re ordering the parts off of Partszilla , you need ( at least for me )three crush washers and two large O-rings for the filler bolts . Thanxs !
