After all, since she is type A, I wonder if the people around her will also choose type A based on the numerical value of 70%...

Another treatment for a great song that l give the thumbs up, however I thought the solo on the piano was a bit rough as the solo on the flute was smooth, as for the vocals fantastic really enjoyed it.

After having grown up with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra/David Zinman recording of this piece, I dunno but this recording seems to be lacking, even though it seems to get all the attention/credit. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra/Yoel Levi version is a bad recording, as that's hardly the case. It just seems to me the BSO recording is superior to all other versions, not just this one. I've listened to recordings conducted by Alsop, Schippers, Slatkin, etc. -- the ones that get the most attention -- but none of these Second Essay recordings compare to the sheer beefiness and majesty of the Zinman. Not sure if it's the audio engineering, or the orchestra, or David Zinman, but that's the recording I prefer. In short, I feel the BSO recording is underappreciated among recordings of the Second Essay, in the same way Samuel Barber is underappreciated in the wider realm of classical music.

I have the Zinman as well as this recording and I always go to Levi but I’ll check out the BSO again.

Another great find on Y.T. First time I've heard this work, a recent live performance of his Violin Concerto has made me investigate Barber in more depth. Amazing recording quality, absolutely life like

+cameronpaul ASO recorded a Sibelius Tone Poem around this same time that also transport u to the Hall with it's realism and transparancy. the audiophile Telarc crew really knew what they were doing!

I only heard this piece for the first time about two weeks ago, to prepare for a live performance of it, but 6:20-7:03 is already one of my favorite moments in all of classical music.

+Martine Tartour he truly turned that orchestra into a world class ensemble. don't think the the musicians were too fond of him for the high demands and standards he put on them. but what a wonderful contribution he made with the many ASO recordings he put out.
