I finally understand how bad these poor warriors get screwed. It’s not just idiots with too much cash spending on foolish things and bad investments. They are just not making what we think in the first place. When people say Tyson blew through $300M+…..no way did he clear anywhere near that, especially under Don King for a few years. It’s really unfair, this needs to change

But this process is different at the lower level right? At like club shows and if you don’t have a promoter, only a manager. Cases where you might even have to pay to get on the card in the first place. I’m still an amateur so I don’t know. Only heard these things
@PYaAT3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment, Michael. Everyone’s journey as a boxer is different. Some guys go into the pro ranks with a known manager and big promotion backing. Other guys have neither. Regardless of either situation, you have to understand that your name is your business/company. You have to protect yourself as a business entity and PYaAT helps you understand how to do so.

Could a fighter make themselves a LLC. That way people like the coach, cut man, manager, and maybe personal doctor could be on their pay role or would that be too much?
@captainmike83593 жыл бұрын
I am all for fair boxer rights but someone seems a bit manipulative and unprofessional in my opinion. I read over the contract on the website and it is amateurish, was not reviewed by an attorney at law, poorly written, and likely compiled by the use of copy and paste because the references mentioned are not defined nor associated with any portion of the document. I am interested in knowing if anyone has ever signed one of those contracts which I doubt. So Boxers Beware. The fair points that are made are valid and worth exploring but no one attempts to describe why things are standardized the way they are in the profession. So Boxers Beware. @13:10 he mentions that boxers are not employees but independent contractors. However, in the opening statements of his presentation he compare's boxer fees for legal representation to nba, nfl, mlb, and nhl player fees but dubiously tries to explain the smaller fees are because they are associated and have unions. Well the fact is that independent contractors do not have the legal right to unionize as employees do. Therefore, boxers are unlikely to unionize and if they do then who would becomes their employer and guarantees their bargaining rights? So Boxers Beware. The real reason why boxers have higher fees is because of the inconsistency of their contests and they must pay the people who create the market and the matches for said contests. Of the aforementioned associated leagues the nfl has the least amount of contest per annum 16 (now 17). If a boxer had a minimum of 16 contest per annum no doubt they would be able to negotiate lower fees for legal representation but that is not practical. So Boxers Beware. There is a lot of misguided positive feedback in this comment section so just be careful people and ask the important questions about the boxing industry and how things are and why things are the way they are so you'll have a more comprehensive understanding and can make a more informed decision. @5:52 No one in professional sports ever make the money that is publicized. Even the aforementioned associated leagues must put a percentage of every players publicized pay in escrow with the possibility they may never earn it. For someone to think they will earn $1,000,000 because that is published is just an indicator of poor money management skills.

Respect to you, brother. Shout out to S.Africa. To answer your question, yes.. a trainer can also be manager to the fighter. The fighter would need to make this decision on that set up. It is tough to wear both of those hats and fully satisfy what the fighter needs on both sides.
