December 2022 anyone??

I've been a fan of this band even before they were called Dragonforce. I remember when I was 18 and in school, a friend introduced me to their demo and I was really hooked on this "Starfire" (as well as the demo version of the song "Valley of the Damned"). I bought their debut album "Valley of the Damned" immediately when it was released in 2003 and that same year, when I was 20, I saw them for the first time when they played their first gig in Sweden at the Sweden Rock Festival. I met Herman Li before the gig and he was super nice (and enthusiastically shouted: "I have a fan in Sweden!") and also enthusiastically commented on my tattoss (I have a black dragon tattooed on my right upper arm). Their drummer had quit the band just a few days before they were due to do this gig so a drummer from another band playing at the same festival had jumped in as a replacement for this gig. After the gig, I happened to meet the singer ZP Theart in the beer tent and we talked for a long time (also super nice and friendly guy).

I used to be mates with a bloke who swore by this band, until he changed his mind about it because the shitty idiot that Beto Vázquez is once told him that Peter Hunt's drumming sounded like a castanet... So the bloke suddenly didn't like DragonForce anymore because of this bloody idiot's opinion. I ditched this bloke for being such an arsehole. And you might wonder who the hell this Beto Vázquez is, and probably won't find anything about him because he was a lousy muscician who was getting bald and looked just like Gollum.

The _only_ thing I like less about the demo is that when he sings, "Hatred fills the skyyyyy!" in the demo, he sings the elongated section with no variation, while in the newer versions he oscillates SkYYyyYYYyyYYy, which I think sounds way better. Other than that, this demo has great dynamic range and is far more enjoyable. It's almost like they used _real instruments!_
