As a Geographic Information Systems professional who is into ham radio and cycling, this is the coolest freaking thing I have ever seen in my life. I came across this after reading a blurb about you in an old Mondo 2000 book. What an amazing sense of pure creativity and engineering capability.

Great to stumble upon this video! I was a purple hat of 2nd WOC, class in 1971 and even though I washed out after 16 hours, I'm glad to have been at Wolters and fly the "little bird 55". It was near the end of the war and many of us were held in Snowbird status, waiting to enter a flight. I always wondered how life would have been had I finished and gone to Rucker. Thanks for the memories. I can almost hear the sound of rotor blades coming out of the main heliport.

I went to Wolters in 1968 and was in the TH-55 class 68-35 and graduated at Rucker 68-518. In 1970 I returned to Rucker as a TH-13 Instrument Instructor, the flew a Huey as an IFE Instructor before I got out in 1973. I flew the 55 as an Instructor working for the contractor and later as a Primary DAC giving flight checks until I left in 1981 and went to work for the FAA as a Aviation Safety Inspector giving flt checks in both helo's and airplanes to include jets (B-737). I stayed in the reserves until 1994 and retired with 26 years. I retired from the FAA in 2005 as the Manager of the Orlando FSDO as a GS-15 with 37 years federal service. I continued flying as a DPE until 2017 with over 10,000 hours flight time. I would not have traded any of this for anything.

Your interview on the Phil Donahue Show was fascinating. You were so far ahead of your time as a freelancer and mobile technologist. Most don't realize how much of your tech then fits into a pock or small back today.

Cool, Nature recordings on DAT, then sold on cassettes and am assuming CD. Dublin Ohio's CD factory was one of just two CD factories in the US in 1989. My wife worked there. She came home one day and told me her boss just pushed a two million dollar machine into the pond they and the Dublin Police Dept. shared at their facility on Post Rd. It's still there I imagine.

That grainy old 8mm film... this was a tough one! Normally I can at least stabilize to make it less jaggy, but with all the existing motion that was not worth the effort. Did just basic cleaning, and a simple color adjust to make it less muddy. Digitized at 2K but realistic export at 1080p was plenty, given the source.

I still cant believe the Navy used the tf30 for so long. It was a bad choice for the F-14. But it was a great engine for the F-111. Go figure. Thank you veterans for your service!!!🇺🇸
@TomcatE30310 ай бұрын
There was no better engine until early 1980's when General Electric F110 came. F110-GE-400 was used in the F-14B and F-14D. F-14A's with TF30's were used to 2004, so one would think it would have been good idea to re-engine all F-14A's with F110-GE-400, but I guess there would have not been funds for it. However, F-14 was highly capable even with not so good TF30.
