This is why I LOVED uncle phil and Fresh Prince. Uncle Phil wasn't this perfect "can't do no wrong" character. He had FLAWS. He was human, just like us. And it made him feel like a real dad who we could love.

Uncle Phil knew he was in the wrong, when he was talking to his mom. His whole demeanor and tone change. When he was addressing Will, he just went yelling at Will and saying what Will did was wrong. However once he was talking to his mom, Uncle Phil. Try to explain his side but his mom saw right through the b.s.!

One the few times Uncle Phil is in the wrong he came from a farm so what he worked hard there and made his own way to becoming a lawyer few from his background can say that most stayed working on their farms, he has nothing to be ashamed of.

Honestly, Phil dropped the ball here. This is a *great* origin story. From a poor farmer boy all the way to a judge. That's a picture perfect American Dream right there, begging to be used for a campaign.

Granny was right, what shame is there in being a farmer? Farmers may not get credit for what they provide for the world or become millionaires from their career choice, but in reality, they are some of the most important people in the world. Meanwhile, people view Judges, Lawyers and Politicians as nothing, but lying, two-faced, corruptible parasites. If given the choice, I know which one I'd choose to be.

farmers used to be held in high regard when the us was still an agriculture society (for example very wealthy people had large farms) but i think once the industrial age began or was in full swing agriculture took the backside and farmer backgrounds were cast aside as low class. so by the time phil was an adult having a farmer background was probably even seen as being worse than from a normal factory middle class or working class background.

I knew a former Warrant Officer in the US Navy who was once a pig farmer in Kentucky. After writing about his experiences the board chose him over everyone else. Your past doesn’t dictate who you are, it makes who you become.
