このハウスキーパーの役を昔、大学サークルでやったこと思い出します。初めは本当にドンキホーテのこと心配していると自分は思ったけれど、そうではない。と教わって演じ方、歌い方を変えまして面白かったです。いちばん好きな場面です。

A fantastic musical ,unfortunately they had people in the lead , who could not sing. They could not hold a candle to Richard Kiley , the show deserves a remake with a cast that can sing like Hugh Jakeman as Don Quixote

I always see this and i felt like Don Quixote. I maybe silly and looney , but I give all of my life to My Ducinea since she is more then anything else in this world. There is chivalry in this world still

Just saw this whole thing for the first time in years (plug for Amazon Prime!) and confirmed that (along with Barnum & maybe 1776) it’s simply one of the most underrated shows. It has such good variety of song styles complete with dashes of Spanish flair (not here so much, but in the song “Don Quixote, for example). And I realized that had this been made either sooner or later… like when musicals had sort of a revival around when Chicago came out… it may have been somehow more effective overall. BUT then we may never have had O’Toole’s terrific performance. Even though the ‘70’s had two or three great ones like Fiddler, I think realism was in and overall it was just an iffy decade for the movie musical. But both their performances were perfect and shall always love this music. Curious whether anyone agrees that another decade or director would’ve made a difference, or whether there are a few that simply don’t translate quite as well from stage to screen. 🎭

He saw past her situation and reached the the pure little girl for that moment she was innocent of her circumstances. Wow!! So powerfully emotional.😢. Only to be violated by reality. Gripping! From joy to anguish.

I played horn in the pit back in 90s (great horn parts!), and the UCONN summer production I was in was known for amazing puppetry. I would hear the horses dancing from below, but I never saw what everybody was obviously so impressed by! It was such a great show! I also played for another early 70s community theatre production in Avon CT. It was a very popular show back in the day ...... for good reason!

I used to think it was bad that Sophia didn't get a better singer to dub her, but now I think I was completely wrong. Singing it like this makes it feel realistic and as emotional as it could be, better than if trained singer had sung it. She sounds like the wretch she's describing herself to be, an ordinary woman, not some diamond in the rough like he thinks she should be. She's literally angrily firing out the lyrics of the song, its obvious that the intention wasn't to sound nice. I come to this movie for the acting, not the singing. The songs are just a method of storytelling for me. Ignore the quality of the singing and focus on the acting, and I think most people would say Sophia Loren did another incredible job here. Her eyes and gestures are so real. I guess the only real problem with this movie is that it cast great actors in a musical instead of great singers or singer-actors, so people expect it to be an audible pleasure rather than focus on the acting. I just wanted an emotionally powerful movie (probably because I'm not a fan of musicals usually), and that's what I got.

I have dreamed thee too long, Never seen thee or touched thee. But known thee with all of my heart. Half a prayer, half a song, Thou hast always been with me, Though we have been always apart. Dulcinea... Dulcinea... I see heaven when I see thee, Dulcinea, And thy name is like a prayer An angel whispers... Dulcinea... Dulcinea! If I reach out to thee, Do not tremble and shrink From the touch of my hand on thy hair. Let my fingers but see Thou art warm and alive, And no phantom to fade in the air. Dulcinea... Dulcinea... I have sought thee, sung thee, Dreamed thee, Dulcinea! Now I've found thee, And the world shall know thy glory, Dulcinea... Dulcinea!
