Thanks so much for this video and your first one, not much info out there for newer mazdas! Question... I have the same amp, and was curious to know if you used a 50hz test tone to set your gain? And where did you end up setting your gain and crossover knobs on your amp? I am having some issues with mine. I am tapped into the sub line like yours, but using a Kisloc2 to the amp, with a 12" CompR sub.
@bdrummer963 ай бұрын
@@kallandawn You're welcome! As far as the gains, I set them mainly by ear by turning the volume up 3/4 of the way and set the gain on the subamp accordingly. Listening for distortion. I believe these push only 50W @1ohm so that would be √(50)=7V of gain. I think mine is set slightly lower than that so maybe the BOSE amp doesn't deliver that much power. Not quite sure. Maybe that would be a good video to make!
@kallandawn3 ай бұрын
@@bdrummer96 When I tried playing a test tone and get a reading off my meter at 3/4 max volume, it kept throwing my amp into PRT, but as soon as I pushed pause on the 50hz 0db tone, it would go back to a green light. I just kept dropping the volume on the head unit and it finally would stay green at a max of 24. This is with the gain, crossover and bass boost on the amp all the way down, and head unit EQd flat. I can't figure out what the heck it's doing or rather what I am doing wrong is probably more likely! Lol
@bdrummer963 ай бұрын
@@kallandawn Hmmm could be tricky to identify. Have you tried a different test tone at a higher frequency? Say maybe 150Hz? I'm wondering if you're running into a factory crossover setting that's messing with the test. How do you have the amp set up? Is it set to Hi or Low input level?
@kallandawn3 ай бұрын
@@bdrummer96 I was thinking maybe it was the same thing, having to do with the factory settings. I have it set on low, since the Kisloc2 is supposed to convert the high to low. But the weird part is that before I started trying to tune the gain and crossover (when I had no clue what I was doing honestly at that time and was just messing with the knobs like it was still 2003) and had my headunit set to my pre-aftermarket amp and sub settings, the bass would hit great. But I was worried I was blow it all up by just randomly setting things, and that was when I went down the "tuning the gain and crossover" rabbit hole. I hadn't thought about trying another frequency tho, so I will give that a shot tomorrow. I really appreciate you responding too!
@bdrummer963 ай бұрын
@@kallandawn of course! I'd also recommend setting up your amp before hooking up the keyloc if you haven't already. You should be able to get the amp worked out and then plug in the keyloc. Then make sure to run the auto tune procedure on the keyloc.

Are you getting any noise constantly coming through your subwoofers with the keyloc hooked up? I wired mine the same and no matter what I do there is a quiet constant noise, its very light but definitely there.
@bdrummer963 ай бұрын
I am not. Sounds like an interference issue. Do you have your RCA cables running side by side with your 12v power cable (to battery)? Some RCA cables are shielded and some aren't. But regardless, they shouldn't be run down the same side of the car. And if they do have to cross at some point, it should be at a 90° angle.

@@bdrummer96i have it hooked up the same way you do. With or without rcas plugged in I am getting noise. I have a feeling its because the power and ground is plugged directly to the amp

Hey man, in looking to do something similar except i bought a pac harness to tap in at the amp. Well taking signal before it goes into the amp via a splitter. I plan on tapping into the front left and right speakers and leaving the sub unhooked with the harness. How do you have the keyloc wired up. I think i habe the signals figured out but not sure about 12v constant 12v accessory and ground. Can you tell me what i need to do for these?
@xBACONxLUV3Rx3 ай бұрын
To follow up. The amp I bought doesn't have remote sensing turn on. Can I use the keyloc remote wire and plug into the remote connection on the amp?
@bdrummer963 ай бұрын
@@xBACONxLUV3Rx Yes you can use the remote wire from the Keyloc. It will create a remote turn on signal based on the audio input it receives. As far as the power and ground, I have mine hooked up to the same 12v constant and ground as my amp. From the battery (fused) and to chassis gnd. I would double check in the keyloc manual, but I don't believe the 12v accessory is a necessity for it to work since you're relying on its remote turn on capabilities. It turns on via 2.5-6V DC offset (aka your audio signal). Hope this helps!
