One of my favorite knives, I own several in both delrin and jigged bone. The larger one for food prep as you suggest, really nice to slice up a salad with. Every single Case just needs a little hone to deburr and bring out the razor edge, no surprise there.

Good to find this video on the Case Barehead Trapper single blade knife. Still has the blade length of the classic twin. The narrow design goes well for EDC. Most of us old guys have no issue with the classic Trapper twin blade knife. Maybe it is the lighting, the Barehead Trapper knife looks old, worn out from the unboxing. It is cool that case is offering something new. For the single blades from Case, I like the Sod Buster, Thumbs up and subscribed

If you want a waterproof boot, get some swampers. Idk why everyone expects animal skin to be waterproof tbh. Its a semi permeable membrane evolved over billions of years to sweat and release/absorb moisture. Waterproof is a myth with outdoor/work gear. I would really appreciate if industry leaders would keep it honest and say water resistant instead of leading people on with absolutes like "waterproof". You're better off just accepting that leather is leather and accepting its not going to be a rubber boot rather than trying to change it into something it isn't in the tanning process. Personally, I'm only going to buy veg tan boots or products in the future for the history factor (because its cool wearing a traditional piece of technology and appreciating the design and development of hundreds of years) , sustainability in terms of polluting our ecosystem, looks/aesthetics, and maximizing the advantages of leather without trying to turn it into a homogeneous and bland material with no soul in the name of durability when in reality veg tan leather is tougher than anyone will ever really need if you don't care about babying it. Just my opinion, but I'd rather accept that any one thing can't do EVERYTHING super well and maximize what it does do well. Great test though and information, thank you for your work. Thoughts?

Seems decent and I've been wanting a Trapper Solo for a long while now. I have quite a few Case knives both new and old and lately i've not be overly happy with their quality. I got 3 7/8" Medium Stockman that has the tree back springs instead of the two that most Stockman knives have. It's supposed to be to keep them from getting the blade rub scratches but this one failed miserably at that and the the Sheepsfoot blade was loose as could be. I sent it back for warranty and got it back but the springs are uneven and the front of the clip point blade bottoms out on the back spring and dolls it to the point you can see the flat spot on the edge. I've reprofiled it to try to match other Case Stockman knives I have and it will stop doing it as if the Kick is too short regardless. This stockman was from the Shepard Hills. Regardless, subbed and commented, great video! Hope it works well for you!

To be honest that's a pretty big mistake on the knife that you pointed out and I would have sent it back to case to have them repair it. I've had such big problems with ordering case knives (craftsmanship) that I pretty much refuse to order them unseen anymore. There's nothing worse than ordering a >$80 in the mail from a big name company and it shows up looking all jacked up just to send it off and now it's gone for 6 weeks before it comes back again, hopefully fixed!

I think Amazon is just using the old description for the model. Pre-COVID they used a proprietary chrome vanadium steel. Now they just order whatever stock is available (rep said they shoot for 1095, but it could be 1075 or 1085). I don't think they sell anything as CV any more. Subbed - would love to know more about those UKPK scales!

Case knives are just kinda hit and miss like that. You could buy another yellow Delrin sod buster today and it could come laser beam sharp. You just never know. They’re the most inconsistent company in America.

I know someone already posted the leathers here. I wanted to make some corrections. I looked closely at the order form from 11 : 05 - 11 : 14 and found the details of the last and leathers used in these boots. The time stamp is for the Nick's Boots video called "The ULTIMATE Patina Test: The Frankenstein | How It's Made". In case anyone wants to see that :) Last: 55 Classic Arch LEFT BOOT Inside QTR: 64 Mahogany Outside QTR: 64 Tan Backstay: 64 Black Counter: WS Brown Vamp: 64 Brown Sole: V100 RIGHT BOOT Inside QTR: Brown CXL Outside QTR: British Tan Backstay: Black CXL Counter: Brown Waxed Flesh Vamp: Predator Orange Sole: Honey Lug

It took like 3 months to break in my fire boots from nicks, but 4 years later, they are the best boots I've ever worn. Living in alaska, i wish Nick would make a pair or Delta Arch moc toes with a wool sheer lining. I'd pay like 1k for something like that.

TBF when I ordered my Tacticals a couple years ago, all their options for leather and design notes were all over the place, so it looks like Nicks' consolidated it into one spot. Confirmed: the "Buying Guide" is on the top left hand part of the page, makes it MUCH easier to see what the leathers look like on various styles of boots, rather than just small swatches of smooth or roughtout.

Maybe the experiment slightly less worthwhile with the work leathers because they are pretty much flat and dull, anyway, and different parts of the boots wear differently, too, etc. BUT now I want three or four pairs of heritage color ones that I can't afford all at once...................
