You did an awesome job! They both look great. This is a good blueprint for people to DIY with. Could use cardboard and then wrap it in plaid Xmas paper - endless design potential. ❤️

Thank you! I was so intimidated to ever use ribbon because I didn’t know how to use it correctly. After watching your video I was able to create a beautiful tree with lots of ribbon! You explained it perfectly and so again Thank you!

I'm wondering about painting again on top of these coatings. We have a mudroom bench that gets some abuse (mostly stations and marks not chips) and I usually just apply another coat of paint. Will future painting have trouble sticking and require laborious prep (sand, prime, paint, coat again?) It's been 3 yrs since building and I just applied a fresh coat... So this isn't a frequent thing... Just hoping to not create a nightmare next time if I add a clearcoat. Thanks for any guidance!!

Looks great. I wished you would've said what size cleat you used on the sides for the rod and how far down you put that rod.

Great video thank you.I think my closet is 55 inches wide. Couldn't I do a 1x2 all the way across and screw the 3/4 inch plywood down to that to prevent sagging?I noticed you only did 1x2 only on the ends. Or is it necessary to do the middle supports? I'm trying to maximize my space. Thank you for making me confident in doing this project honey. Hope you have a nice day

I'm so glad this video helped! It's difficult for me to answer that without seeing the closet, but for that size it is probably best to include the middle supports. Good luck with your closet!

This is such a great craft & cost! I’m going through my subscriptions & unsubbing from a lot of these “crafters”. One woman today, took “us” to Ikea for her hacks, I’m sorry but I don’t have 400-500$ to spend on craft decor. And because I said that, not to mention she lives in this grandiose house…I mentioned that if she & others would stop wasting so much money decorating, especially bedrooms & bathrooms, they could actually give to those in need. Another commenter scolded me & said it’s always poor people & saving a few hundred dollars to give wouldn’t help anyone. 🤦🏼‍♀️ and she deserves to decorate bathrooms/bedrooms. I’m sorry it just has really been a yucky day and your REAL crafting was such a joy to see!!! Thank u!!!! 😊

Do you have any video on fixing the wood on a wicker chair. Found a wicker chair but one leg seems to have been chewed about inch or so off so chair will not sit level. Can it be fixed cheaply
@LovelyEtc

I don't have a video on that, but I wonder if you could add a replacement piece to that leg, then sand it and paint over it?

These are fantastic tips! The other thing I am interested in is the difference between uaing a poly based finish vs a paste or wax, but not with chalk paint. I see this a lot on chalk paint, but I rarely use chalk paint so I'm very curious, but afraid to try some of those waxes and pastes over the paint I use which is Benjamin Moore Advance or all in one paints like Heirloom Traditions or different brands of mineral paint, acrylic paint, or urethane enamel paint

Can any of these be used in a paint sprayer? I tried the minwax polycrylic and it seemed like it was too thin and went on very streaky.
@LovelyEtc
@LovelyEtc 11 күн бұрын
They can be used in a paint sprayer as normally you need to thin paint out a little. Be sure to follow the instructions for the brand that you use and shake it really well.

I wish you had shown the process for cleaning this sprayer...the paint container and sprayer . Probably not as easy or fun as the actual spraying. I presume it has to be washed between coats so it doesn't dry in the tool?

Doesn't the trim stick out over the edge of the shelves? I'm planning to make 11" cubbies and use 11" x 11" bins. But would the trim interfere with the bins?
@LovelyEtc
@LovelyEtc 11 күн бұрын
The trim doesn't interfere with the shelves and just gives it more of a finished look. You can go with 10x10 bins if you are concerned about that.

3:08 thank you,i hope i can do it too on my 4ft only white Christmas tree. First time have it . Last night i ended up removing the ribbons because i cant figure out how to make it look good 😅. When o ordered it online ,i already figured out in my mind its just so easy to design ,am really excited,but when it arrived and began to put the decors ,i dont know how to beutify it 😅
@LovelyEtc
@LovelyEtc 11 күн бұрын
You can definitely use this method on a 4' tree. I bet a white tree is just lovely! If you are not happy with the ribbon, simply take it out and try again. A little practice and you will get it just right! Have fun with it.

Can you update on how they’ve held up!
@LovelyEtc
@LovelyEtc Ай бұрын
Overall the paint held up very well after a couple of years. The handle has a few chips which I expected and all of the paint on the inside of the bottom track has worn off. But that area isn’t very visible anyway. All of the rest of the paint still held up. We have since moved, but found this to be a very good fix for old doors!

Hi! I added new hardware, however the 2 small hinges on the front I did paint. I liked how it blended and focused on the hardware. It is always a matter of preference, so you can certainly refinish the hinges if you like.

Fantastic job. I'm so envious of women who know their way around a Saw, Hammers, drills. Very impressive. My next comment is not to you per se but a general comment from someone who has a no shoes in the home policy. Having all those shoes in the master closet, doesn't it smell? Wouldn't you want this rather in a hall closet in a mud room?
@LovelyEtc
@LovelyEtc Ай бұрын
Thank you. It is so true that the more you DIY, the better you get with tools. It's been years of practice! Hmmm...we haven't had any issues with the smell. But, if you go hiking or running, maybe let the shoes air out a bit before placing them in the closet?
