Man bro I had to come back to this today again, crazy how Jay Z straight rode big L and took his style, but since big L was so real he was about his bread and not the drama. He’s gotta be the biggest loss in hip hop to me because Tupac and biggie got the spotlight and made multiple albums and even were the top guys in their labels. Big L was on the scene early on but didn’t get his pop til his 97-98 album and then he was gone a year later. Reminds me of how snoop dogg some years earlier in the 1991-1994 years he developed his “unique “ style from straight riding a rapper out of Houston/j prince/rap-a-lot named Mr. 3-2.
