Am doing this myself, I done my old LDV Convoy, but this looks very much harder! Basically put crank and cam locking pins in and also mark everything to make certain, yes? Many thanks!

The high pressure fuel pump of a common rail diesel is only supplying high pressure fuel, it is not controlling timing in any way, therefore that is why there are no timing marks for the high pressure fuel pump. Engine timing is provided by the crank position sensor and various other parameter inputs from numerous sensors and is controlled by the ECU powering the injectors on and off.

I have this to do on a van next week, i'm changing the radiator too, so will be taking the front of for that, and I'm not that tall, so it will make it a bit easier to get to the rest of it. Also, I have the timing pin, so hopefully should get it spot on. You forgot to mention how you have to tension the belt using harmonics, and twang it to get it to 88-90Hz tension, before tightening the locking nut on the tensioner. I use Carltune app on my phone to do this.

Great Vid , I doing the same work to my van without the removal of the front and rad, cant get to the crank key hole (limited axcess) if I remove the belt without the key in would this be ok?

I think, I may have cover this in your other message?

Did you use a timing pin when you removed the belt?
@caspar1975able2 жыл бұрын
Hi Gary, no I didn't use the pin, just carefully removed belt and marked as best I could. I find a lot of these pin crank holders hard to fit as the blank holes aren't easy to get to

Hi, yes, and a new cambelt at the same time as removing a pump is a good idea.
