Woody hayes was an asshole and a sore sport. He and Bobby Knight are no legends in my mind. This was a year before he punched the clemson player. He should have been fired after this.

#77 for Michigan was offsides on that play. Big 10 officiating. 😂

The Ohio State QB shoulda handed that ball to the fullback. What a disaster that play was. I woulda been mad too.

I am not a Big 10 fan or really even a college football fan but Woody Hayes alone caused me to have a negative perception of Ohio State. In addition he reminded me of some of the arse hat coaches i had in the 70s when abusing players mentally and physically was still in vogue.

I was hoping this would be footage of the Art Rogers incident at the 1973 Rose Bowl. Art Rogers was an LA Times photographer who was down on the field before the game as the teams were warming up and doing pre-game drills. Woody had his team huddled for a few moments and when they broke up, he ran towards Rogers and shoved his camer in his face, causing eye injuries. It was totally unprovoked. He said, "That ought to take care of you, you son of a bitch!" Rogers continued his shooting assignment through the first half, but had to leave around halftime. He sought medical attention for his injuries after that. I was at the game, rooting for USC, which demolished the Buckeyes and won the National Championship that year. I didn't find out about the incident until the next day. Woody had an abusive temper and a bully mentality.

Woody Hayes is an asshole. Punching the cameraman, followed by punching a Clemson player at the Gator Bowl.

Woody Hayes is the reason that there is so much hate between Michigan and Ohio State. It continues in today's games between the two schools Woody Hayes was a great coach But he had no idea how to control his temper.

No. Punched an opposing team's linebacker (Clemson in '78 Gator Bowl)

Knew the sport, but lacked character discipline. Very immature at controlling his emotions. Not a good leader in that category.
@georgesouthwick7000Ай бұрын
As long as Woody kept winning championships, OSU was wiling to put up with his temper tantrums. When the Buckeyes weren’t winning Big 10 Championships and Rose Bowls they were finished with him. He was allegedly fired for punching an opposing player on the sidelines, but if Ohio State was undefeated and won the National Championship that year, he could have punched the Governor of Ohio and not been fired.
