I work at Hilton Hawaiian Village, our hotel was on strike for 40 days!! Finally the strike is over, but before it was over, I sat in tears in the private lounge that was given to managers to eat snacks and have drinks while taking time to relax momentarily away from the noise. I sat beside the assistant director and I just vented and so did he, we spoke about all the challenges we faced and how well we did as a team! I opened up my heart and how I empathize with the union and with our company, and it was tough to face harsh bullying coming from their chants, but I kept going regardless. He was the one who mentioned the book “Unreasonable Hospitality.” I will never forget the challenges, the crazy moments had while the strike was going on, it was an opportunity to show unreasonable hospitality.

Chris Williamson was just talking about celebrating wins in life with friends too. Good friends will be happy to celebrate with you. Bad friends will be bitter about your wins.

I really enjoyed this dialog. I admire that you took ownership of the good the bad and the ugly. I think many of us struggle with the practice of integrity. Surrounding yourself with like minded people seeking values has helped me. I need accountability. Looking forward to your next project!

47:30 Work life balance isn't the goal - the real balance comes between how you're taking care of your body, mind, heart, and spirit. Spirituality is uniquely human thing, a sense of wonder about things that are not always knowable. Getting exercise in nature with someone from your family (or someone who you love) takes care of everything all at same time: it's the "ultimate multi-tasking."
