3:09 Duffy, so I checked my Tombow anniversary book. They described the window as "uniquely shaped" and does not represent anything. When i checked their older packaging, I think it meant to contour with the printing on the box. Also the 8900 is a favorite for me. Its a pretty good pencil for people who can't afford the Mono and want to try their quality pencils. Definitely a fan. 😊

The discrepancy in numbering in the Psalms is due to the fact that the Vulgate uses the Septuant which the Jewish religions authorities later rejected, and the protestant and modern Catholic Bibles use the later Hebrew bible which uses a different numbering system for the Psalms.

It's interesting how Dixon has these and the Jumbo Finished Pencil. It's weird that they have both these and the Laddie and My First Ticonderoga. The Finishing Pencil (may only be available at Lowe's?) is slightly lighter than the My First Ticonderoga. It's like they're competing for the same spot in their line up as they are all around the same price. I noticed that these pencils are quite hard to find with only two listings showing up on Amazon. This definitely reminds me of a classic American Pencil with both the style and naming.

Hi MAMO - this was another fun one! Put me down for a gross of the Press pencils should someone at Moon hear your plea! I will echo it, as well! Moon seems to be an "under the radar" organization. It's hard to imagine any business that makes things and sells them (even at a wholesale level) not to have a website. A teacher's store in the Detroit area (sadly now closed) was the only place I ever saw Moon branded pencils - mostly varieties of Try-Rex. Although I have seen the USA Gold/Titanium pencils in many big box retailers - and for my money they generally meet or exceed the performance of a Ticonderoga. The transformation of the Musgrave website and marketing efforts over these past few years has been incredible, and I have to believe they are selling more pencils (at least I hope so). Interesting how Musgrave has its 600 News, Best had its Press, and other companies made bold, soft, dark cored pencils and named them with a newspaper theme. Thanks for sharing your Best/Moon collection with us!

Moon products is one of my favorite brands for pencils. I find it difficult to find a lot of their products as they don't have a website. Amazon is a complete mess and I refrain from using them whenever I can. I also ended up finding an interesting article that was linked over on the r/pencils group on reddit. Apparantly, Moon/Best makes pencils that are made from Denim (yes, as in denim jeans) and newspaper. I also find it interesting the "Crown Cedar" model as it is pretty close to the America's Best USA Gold. I almost wonder if they are the same pencil as they look so similar. I have to find all 4 to add to my collection! Another interesting thing is in one of my recent finds, I ended up getting a "TAD" eraser made by Richard Best. I assumed it would be useless since Richard Best became Richard Bust (Sorry for the bad joke) at least 20-30 years ago, but I used it and it worked great. It was right up against the Pentel Hi-Polymer and Magic Rub. I also found a few Staedtler Mars erasers from the 80s, a magic rub made by Faber-Castell (I believe) which, unusually was actually in a bevel shape similar to the Pink Pearl (Of which, I had found a few from around the time but were completely useless, and I also found a few Magic Rub erasers from when they were made by Sanford which also worked well. I almost wonder if the erasers that work good for so long, work well because they are made from plastic or contain PVC or Latex.

A friend just gave me some old noblot pencils. What were they used for primarily?
@ma-mo14 күн бұрын
They were meant to replace dip ink pens originally, leaving a permanent mark on documents, without the mess (or need for a "blotter"). Many also would, when wetted, make a duplicate of the document that was written with it.

Nice review! I appreciate the occasional foray into philosophy, since watch reviews can get pretty boring. I bought my first SKMEI (1912), because the F91-W backlight was unacceptable. From there I moved on to the 2042, and eventually another 8 or so SKMEI's. All have great electroluminescent backlights (very important for me) and all sell for $3-$7. They work very well as watches and are often conversation starters, when someone notices that they aren't Casio's. I'm waiting for SKMEI to copy my favorite Casio, the W-800H, but I'll still always have a W-800H, because of the 100 meter water resistance of that model.
