I have just installed a Voyager in my RV-4, and my friend has an Oddyssey in his RV-6. I want to copy his setup, but he doesn't have a card with his setup on. Is there a way of copying his existing setup from his Oddyssey, and import it into a SD-card? I would then like to modify a few items, and import it into my Voyager. Is this possible?

Hey dutchroll. Hope you see this. I watched your video and then tried to make a custom checklist. It worked for the most part except it put the pages on top of each other. I did a, b,c,d but they are not separated into different pages. ????Can you help.
@dutchroll

Hi, yes for better or worse that's how the a, b, c etc info pages behave. They are each a "layer" on the base page. So 3a will sit on top of page 3. As you flick through each subsequent info page it replaces the one before it but the underlying main page 3 is still on the screen along with all its data. So you have to set aside some blank real estate on the base page so that whichever info page you have selected doesn't obscure stuff on on the base page that you still want to see. Alternatively if you want each info page to completely "replace" the base page with totally new data, you have to make a solid background on the info page. It's then not really "replacing" the base page, but rather sitting on top of it and obscuring everything underneath. In these scenarios your last info page could be a blank one so that as you cycle through them, you get back to your base page which in reality in this example would be page 3, with a totally blank, or transparent, info page on it. Eg, you fill pages 3a, 3b, and 3c with data, and make info page 3d totally blank with nothing on it at all. As you cycle through them you'll eventually get to 3d, which is screen 3 with nothing on top of it aside from an empty info page.

@@dutchroll First of all I'm learning from your vids, and want to thank you for putting them out. Now back to my question. I find that page a , the first page of my checklist comes up right, when I hit next page button, the first page stays there and b is put on top. When I say on top I mean they are both there. Now I can't read where there is double text. I think there is something simple that I'm missing here.

I worked for those idiots as a contractor, was based in Richmond, NSW. I left early because they were doing very illegal things with the airplane, I didn't want to lose my A&P certificate (aircraft mechanic). I am ex-airline, worked the 10 for decades, I hate that fucking plane, problems are always with #2 engine. At American airlines we called it the crowd killer.

dutchroll, you are a peach. I was struggling with this and you've shown me the light! Any suggestion with loading firmware updates? I get a Ibox1.0.XX not seen when trying to load it directly into the iBox. Should I load it into the simulator? Should I do that with the maps and terrain files too?
@dutchroll
@dutchroll Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately I'm not familiar with the ibox version as I have the iEFIS Lite which doesn't use an iBox. The firmware updates normally have to be in the root directory of an sd card and you need the card in the slot already when you put power on. It should update automatically. With map files you can load them into the simulator if you want.

How can I enlarge my transponder input screen?
@dutchroll
@dutchroll 2 жыл бұрын
To my knowledge you can't. It is a fixed size input screen determined by MGL. You can only change its position on the screen. It's an unfortunate limitation of the screen design program.

Thanks. This vid helped me with my MX1. I can confirm the fuel tank 2(1) is fuel tank 2 from RDAC 1 & is not one of the calculated tanks. Only issue I had was that the specified datum (Jabiru) had the pilot and passenger with a negative arm. Easy fix was to move the datum, but this means the diagram data (fwd and aft CoG limits don’t match the PoH, so someone unfamiliar might query this.

Now that you have deleted the ECB icon. how do you get it back?
@dutchroll
@dutchroll 2 жыл бұрын
The ECB icon is under the "general" tab in the screen designer. You select "General" then insert a "functional icon". The default functional icon is the "icon holder" but if you double click on it to get to its properties, then select the drop down menu, you can change it to "ECB".

Hi, First of all, very good videos, are perfect to figure out how to do some needed design on MGL iEFIS. I have a question, on minute 7:00 you create a new page copying a module and setting the name with a new page number. Then when you close the designer, you have 6 pages. In my case I have 4, I've created a Flight5 file and I still having 4 pages. Do you know what could be the problem? Thanks in advance, good work !!
@dutchroll
@dutchroll 3 жыл бұрын
First step would be to carefully check the filename. It must conform exactly to the name format (eg, flight5.sdf). Capital letters don't matter. And also of course that it is in the correct folder (/screens). When you turn the rotary knob in the simulator it should then just give you a blank page 5.
@omarkafernawi7027
@omarkafernawi7027 3 жыл бұрын
@@dutchroll Hi, i had written the name correctly, and it was also correctly placed at /screens folder. For anyone who has the same problem, the solution for me was going to Menu -> System Setup Menu -> Standard System Selections and for "Flight: Individual screen custom enables" select custom screen on the new page (number 5 in my case). If I don't do that, the screen doesn't know that should load something on page 5, maybe because it doesn't have any default flight5 screen to show?
@dutchroll
@dutchroll 3 жыл бұрын
@@omarkafernawi7027 That was going to be my next suggestion. So yes in the menu you always need to tell it to use the custom screens you have loaded. Those settings are found in the "Standard system selections" sub-menu. There are multiple variations of settings in this sub-menu which if not correct can result a custom screen not being displayed even when it is named and loaded correctly.

I appreciate the video instructions. You do a great job explaining what you are doing. I’m trying to build some checklist pages for my Explorer Lite and I’m not having much luck getting the info pages to advance or even show up once I click out of the design editor.
@dutchroll
@dutchroll 4 жыл бұрын
To get them to advance is a matter of checking the setup of the overlaying "touch area". There are only two choices in the dropdown menu for an info page touch area, and that is forward or backward. Getting the info pages to show up could be a number of problems. If you are still having trouble, email me at [email protected] and I'll forward my regular email and might be able to assist if you send me the screen files.

Thanks for the video. My question is in regards to the weight and balance definitions file. In the weight and balance definition from we have the W&B graph range. What determines those values? I setting up an RV8. Thanks
@dutchroll
@dutchroll 4 жыл бұрын
These values should be provided by the manufacturer. I think for an RV8 it is in Section 14 of the builders manual. Vans also have a summary weight & balance limits sheet on their website. So basically you will need a minimum and maximum weight, and a most forward and most aft C of G (measured in "inches aft of datum"). I notice for Vans aircraft they allow the builder to establish the maximum gross weight, but they do publish a "recommended" maximum gross weight. The minimum weight could be the empty weight or anything below that, to establish a "bottom" of the envelope. The RV8 has a design C of G range of 78.7 (most forward) to 86.82 (most aft) inches aft of datum.
