Having to carry 2 watches is crazy and somewhat stupid advise. I have to stop watching with that comment.

Nobody talks about insurance from the seller's point of view, from getting the watch to the Authenticity centre. I would not sell a watch on eBay unless I could get insurance. What happens if my watch does not get there and goes missing. According to eBay, it's the sellers responsibility to get the watch to the Authenticity centre. Once the watch gets sent out from the Authenticity centre, it is their responsibility. Royal Mail "Special Delivery" only cover up to £2,500. Some people have said use Secursus, but they won't cover it to Stoll & Co. My Question is, who can a seller use if he wants his £7,000 watch insured to the Authenticity centre?.Plus, there doesn't seem anyway of contacting Stoll & Co. No email or phone number. It does not exactly inspire me with any confidence. I don't know anything about them at all. They are not getting their hands on any of my luxury watches. I've read that one seller tried to take his watch to them in person, after selling it and was turned away! I would not sell any of my luxury watches through eBay until this insurance issue is sorted out? Way too high risk for me.

I considered wearing a wrist sweat band (see Joe Rogan and Russell Crowe) It might look a bit obvious you’re hiding a watch but it might deter someone from trying

I had a fake Rolex and it was a rubbish fake, no chance of fooling anyone when they handled it but for some strange reason that got far more attention than my real Rolex.

I literally would wear my Rolex Daytona and Panerai and IWC on the New York City subway every day for 15 years. I moved out of New York obviously. Go try that now and see if you live to see another day. It’s not a joke. And in Third World countries, they will cut your arm off to get your Rolex. my advice is by a another brand that doesn’t stand out

Very silly video. This man raising his fists, like he's going to fight? He has no concept of the harm that might come his way. If you are worried, wear a G Shock or price equivalent. The thieves aren't stupid, and will spot you in a bar or a restaurant, and will wait with a reception party outside. And then the decoy watch suggestion? Stabbed for an Invicta!!!
@THEOne-zx3fe2 ай бұрын
Decoy watch? Why go thru the trouble of carrying TWO watches, taking off the expensive watch and put on a decoy watch while you are out and about? Just take off the expensive watch, put it in your pocket and go wrist commando. Must you have a watch on at all times? Or do you rather they think you have an expensive watch than let them see you don't have a watch on your wrist? And let's be honest, if they are robbing you of what's ON your wrist, b/c it "looks like the expensive model", then the chances are they are going to rob you of what's in your pockets as well.

Thanks for your comment. Its a good point you make. There is no reason why not just take the watch off and go wrist-commando. However if people are out and about getting trains, going to meetings / restaurants / meeting friends, most activities revolve around time-points in the day and having a watch helps to tell the time at a glance (without having to get your phone out). However that time-teller could easily be a Casio / Seiko and any other low-key watch. Many watch enthusiasts that I meet seem perfectly happy with their apple watch despite having impressive watch collections. Most watch crime victims only seem to have their luxury watch targeted, not wallets, handbag contents and pockets (like general robbery or muggings). Thanks again for your valuable contribution.

Its a case of thinking about the factors of it being lost or stolen in scenarios or areas. I would never wear a nice watch in London in public. I would remove my watch and never put it in a tray without putting in a bag in airport security and finally its never openly displayed on bare arms and covered by cuffs

Great video. Absolutely right...be vigilant and be smart. Dont wear very expensive watches on public transportation, use Uber and Lyft (get a regular driver). If having a night out go in a group and desinate a safety. I've got two ex military (Rangers/ Spec Ops) guys I've known since high school. I'm 6'4" but they're both 6'6" built like linebackers and both are happily married. So I call their wives and have them coordinate a night out. Great time with besties and zero hassles. Traveling if I take a luxury watch (I rarely do) I dont go out to mass public or night cl7bs with it.

What’s the point of talking a decoy watch? If you want to replace your Rolex while passing the dangerous area, it’s better to use anything cheap that does not remind the Rolex. Otherwise you could be attacked anyway. I’m not sure you will have enough time to explain to the robber that it’s just an Invicta. And even if you manage to explain this the upset robber might stab you anyway.

Why a Rolex Explorer (1) is such a great Rolex watch to own. Total class yet way under the radar! Most people have no idea it’s a Rolex. Wearing a Sub is a completely different vibe and you can feel the attention, while no one takes a second look at the Explorer. But YOU know it’s a Rolex and a damn nice one too !
@PrestigeWatches4 ай бұрын
A great comment and I agree the Explorer I is certainly an understated and less attention grabbing timepiece, yet stands shoulder to shoulder with its brethren’s when it comes to watchmaking prowess. 👍🏼

I wore my Rolex on the NYC Subway for 10 years back and forth to work five times/week. It's best not to look like a scared little girl when wearing it. These latter day soi boys are so soft they crumble if you give them a dirty look. It's pathetic that grown men are afraid to wear what they own.

The very fact that clips like this exist is the reason I seldom wear either of the two Rolex's I own (Sub and gold oyster perpetual). If you need to be in any way 'aware' regarding crime because of what you're wearing then let's face it, what's the point and why bother?

Although many people know names like Rolex, Omega and Patek Phillip- most people honestly don't know the brands well enough to spot them from close distances. I’ve never had any fear of someone targeting me to steal from me. I’m quite situationally aware as a matter of habit. Nothing of significant value is ever stored in my home as people are often robbed by people they know. Anything that is likely not to be worn each day is always locked in a bank vault. With that said-I’d never wear anything valuable in unfamiliar areas-nor would I travel by airplane with timepieces costing more than $1,000. There simply too much risk there. Speaking to your suggestion about taking the watch off to be placed in your wiife’s handbag: I wouldn't do that at all. Handbags are prime targets for theft. If you feel the need to take your watch off of your wrist-it’s far better to put it in something like a money belt inside your trousers to keep in on your person and out of areas where theives would be able to quickly check before fleeing the scene. There are also locking clasps that are made to fit Rolex timepieces to keep thrives from being able to remove the watch from your wrist without having to apply enough force to break the spring bars mounting the bracelet to the watch head.

Thank you for your wise advice. 30-years ago I was attacked in the foyer of my New York apartment building at approximately 1 AM ( I was in the restaurant management business and arriving home from a long day at the restaurant). The attacker immediately jumped my back and began a stranglehold on my neck with his left arm while stabbing me on my right arm and shoulder with a sharp knife. I was about to lose conscienceless as he said, “Give me your watch!” I owned a beautiful gold/steel Rolex Datejust that I purchased new in Texas in 1978 after graduating from college. I was afraid that he had an accomplice with him who either could have killed me or done serious bodily harm with a gun or knife (I was both tired and exhausted from not being able to breathe). I slowly took off the watch and tossed it away from me to see who my attacker was as he ran to retrieve my Rolex. He quickly left the building (there was no accomplice). I eventually went to the hospital and was treated for multiple wounds. My wife was 7-months pregnant and I was only able to tell her that I was “hurt, but OK”on my way home. I didn’t want to tell her my details of the attack in her expectant condition. I have since come to terms with the fact that if I were to go back and forth to work on the NYC subway that it would not be wise to own a valuable watch simply to fit in with the clientele that I saw every day and night. I still would desire a Rolex replacement, but I would find it not safe to wear, especially when crime is mostly unstoppable.
