I drove the length of the branch about 5 years ago. I have put together a power point show like a driving tour with info about the stations along the line and current photos of depots and features. The things you also put on the SFM&HS website was most helpful along with items from the John Burke book. I hope to show it to the group in Nov. 2025. I've done driving tours of abandoned lines in NE Kansas for the last maybe 25 years. Sad to hear the Climax depot finally had to be destroyed. Wonderful layout, probably hard to pick and choose locations to model. Very detailed!

I really like this layout. I work the former ATSF Emporia Sub, so the scenes shown here ring true. And yes, that Orient boxcar is a nice touch! We've got segments of the Orient roadbed still visible, and I know a former ATSF guy who used to work what they called "The Orient," a section of track in south Texas going to the border at Presidio.

This video came up again in my feeds. Listening watching and listening to the background sounds really sale the scenes on this layout.

Hi all, i am new to the train hobby (i really am) pardon my ignorance, but the z-scale here looks n-gauge-ish... am i missing something? i only own japanese N-gauge so far

Great stuff! Very realistic layout (I don’t say that much). Loved the in focus low down views, looked just like my spot for a roll by…22 years-I know what it looks like well. Rail color was bang on, at least where I am. Some of the car weathering was shockingly good(adm car, tanks), pipeload was fantastic.

Why didn't you name the model railroad? This is Hangman Creek Lumber Company, for those wondering. Built by Jess Dozier, Jim Smith, Stan Oxendahl and Tom Jennings

You did this layout justice! And even ended with my favorite orange Hooker tank car in the shot! :)

What I appreciate is the number of locomotives on a train. Seems some think 5 locomotives on a 24 car train is prototypical. To me 2 locos pulling a 40 car train is more correct then 4 locomotives pulling a 25 car train!

I couldn't get over the details plus the sound takes it to a whole new level, complete with syncing the sound with the trains actions. Excellent, well done! 😎

I like the sound, except for the fact it sounds more like the train is going across diamonds rather than normal rail

I had the honor of physically seeing Stan's model last week. Stan's work is all to scale down to the last bale of hay. The people and animal figurines are so realistic looking. Stan, you are a talented and skilled man. You can be very proud of this accomplishment!

I have one of those mostly unbuilt Kemtron Shay kits I picked up from Van Hobbies so so long ago, a very nice model when built and running. Only the frame is built with my kit. Very nice layout Stan, I would like to see a closeup of the side of the engine to see how you delt with covering up the chain drive. the completed model I saw was modified with different motor and gears, maybe from Northwest short line, made for a quieter and smoother operation, albeit the motor was still tucked away in the tender/tank of the locomotive. 5 stars!
