This is what all those 122 All Region Jazz practice recordings have led up to! I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone out there who’s supported me in this journey. It means a lot to me. I’d especially like to thank my Dad, Robert Barnett (former principal trumpet player in the Air Force Bands), for being my teacher through this whole process. I wouldn’t be here without him.

You sound good; I’ve been playing brass for a long time, it’s nice to see the younger generation keeping it going. Small word of advice, some of the “dirtiness” on your notes sounds like you are tonguing too far forward, which makes fast articulation really difficult and inaccurate. Hope this helps and good luck!

Sounds good, just make sure you sleep well, and eat well, and drink well, and it’ll sound even better-don’t get too nervous either. Just breath. The playing already sounds quite good tbh💯🔥😁

I got 3rd chair in the first band! I’m gonna try to upload the concert, but it’s a large file so I’ll have to get it transferred to a computer. I got the same problem with my All Region Jazz recording

It’s all just time and a lot of practice. Some tips I can give you if you’re struggling with cracking notes is to warm up on the chicowitz flow studies, and not focus on getting to the top note, but focus on the quality of each note at a time as you go up. It builds fullness in your sound and prevents you from cracking as many notes. For tonguing, it’s nice to be conscious of where your tongue is hitting and if it would be better in a different spot in your mouth. When you have to go faster, the key is to stay relaxed, and that’s probably the hardest one to work out. I still have to remind myself to relax a lot lol. Hope this helps!
