2001 was a great year for Dame Maggie. First series of Harry Potter and Gosford Park both got Oscar nominations a month later. She attended Golden Globe awards and Oscars in 2002. Rest well, Dame Maggie! An incomparable legend.

There is no denying that Rosie did an incredible job speaking to her peers on her show back in the day. Such a natural at it. I strongly recommend "My Old Lady" starring the brilliant Maggie Smith. She was such a talent and a gift. RIP Maggie.

Thanks Rosie's Nephew. I see it's truly Season 5 because she still has the fanny pack for the IV. Kate Mulgrew is always a delight. I always thought that the portrait in Will's apartment was a picture of Erik.

Check out the other clips of Maggie on the Carol Burnett show here on You Tube. They sang a duet. Her long-time friend comedic actress Alice Ghostly there to watch was introduced from the audience by Carol. Alice is the one who accepted her first Oscar for her. They knew each other from Maggie's Broadway debut in "The New Faces of 1956." Also, on Carol's show Maggie played a hilarious cockney like she did in the film "Hot Millions" (1968) with Peter Ustinov and the late great Bob Newhart! Check that out too if you can find it. Also, some of her earlier film work, like "Love and Pain and the Whole Damn Thing" from 1973 where her physical comedy is just a master class, falling out of bed of all things. So glad I got to see her on Broadway. Such a wonderful actress. One of the greatest of her generation of british actors it goes without saying.

*This is wonderful, Rosie! Thank you for sharing this with us* 🌷 Dame Maggie Smith was such a huge part of my childhood starting with playing Mrs. Medlock in The secret Garden and then obviously as Professor Minerva McGonogall. The way she lifted those characters to my favourite books as a child and teenager was so impressive and left me with such ave of her acting ability and the vulnerability she brought and wit and much more. If anyone has missed out on this documentary with Dame Maggies Smith, Dame Joan Plowright, Dame Judi Dench and Dame Eileen Atkins it’s called ”Nothing like a dame” from 2018, please make your way to it with a haste. I promise you won’t regret it! Wands up❤
