The foetus will be born dead. However, it will revive and live till a long age. All the learned ones know that you are wicked and a coward. You have always been engaged in evil and wicked deeds. You survive by killing those who are children. That is the reason you will reap the fruits of your wicked deeds. You will roam around the earth for three thousand years. You will never have a companion and will never be able to converse with anyone. You will be alone and have no aides. You will roam through diverse countries. O wicked one! You will never find a station amidst men. You will have the stench of pus and blood. You will dwell in desolate regions and in wildernesses. O evil one! You will roam around, ridden with every kind of disease. Parikshit will come of age and obtain the Vedas and the vows. The brave one will obtain knowledge of all the weapons from Kripa Sharadvata. He will know about all the supreme weapons and base himself on the dharma of kshatriyas. He will have dharma in his soul and protect the earth for sixty years. On top of this, the mighty-armed one will be the king of the Kurus. O extremely evil-minded one! That king will be known by the name of Parikshit. O worst of men! You will look on. Ashwatthama- The 2nd Most Powerful Warrior after Arjun🔥 This answer will be based on BORI Critical Edition the authoritative version of Mahabharata. 1. Possessed the knowledge of almost all the celestial weapons. 2. Possessed the ability to invoke lethal celestial weapons through mind, air or tiny objects like a blade of grass. 3. The only warrior who fought Arjuna to stalemate in Virat war. 4. Defeated Yudhishthira, Bhima, Satyaki and Dhristadyumna multiple times. 5. The only warrior who fought back Ghatotkacha's army of demons when they attacked the Kourava army for the first time on the 14th night. 6. Killed Ghatotkacha's son Anjanaparva. 7. Killed one lakh Pandava warriors while fighting with Ghatotkacha. 8. Defeated Ghatotkacha in archery. 9. Killed one Akshauhini of Ghatotkacha's demons on the 14th night. 10. Killed innumerable Pandava soilders by invoking Narayanastra on the 15th day. 11. Killed another Akshauhini of Pandava soilders by firing Agneya missile on the 15th day. 12. Killed notable Pandava warriors like king Nila of Mahishmati and king Malayadhwaja of Pandya. 13. Put up some fierce fights with Arjuna on the 17th day. 14. Rescued Karna from Arjuna atleast three times in Kurukshetra war. 15. Became invincible when Lord Shiva entered his body on the 18th night, thus helping him to wipe out all the remaining warriors of the Pandava camp. 16. Even Lord Krishna discerned through his power of mind that Ashwatthama had become invincible due to Lord Shiva entering his body, and thus took the five Pandava brothers along with him away from the Pandava camp. Ashwatthama was one of the foremost warriors of his era who exhibited his true potential only on the 18th night after the war was over. Even Duryodhana lamented on his death bed that he made the mistake of not instating Ashwatthama as his commander just after the death of Dronacharya. Duryodhana realised that angered at Dronacharya's death, Ashwatthama could have wiped out the Pandava army single-handedly.

•Ashwatthama had rescued Karna 3 times from Arjuna on the 14th day of the Kurukshetra War. •Arjuna became the 'GOD OF WAR' on that day and performed a superhuman feat of slewing 7 Akshauhini sena of the Kaurava forces single- handedly🔥 •Not even Drona, Ashwatthama and Karna were able to stop him from achieving his goal of slaying Jayadratha before sunset. Here is the sequence of events which took place on the 14th day :- •Here is the sequence of events which took place on the 14th day :- 1. FIRST ENCOUNTER On the 14th day of the war, Arjuna intervened in Bhima’s fight against Karna. Arjuna released gold arrows and forced Karna to retreat. Karna then, mounted his car and fled away. Then, Arjuna in rage, fired a fierce iron arrow towards Karna but, Karna was saved by Ashwatthama. Then, Savyasachi launched 64 arrows towards the son of Drona and wounded him. Hence, this was a direct defeat of Karna as he was deeply afflicted by Arjuna’s arrows and had to be saved by Ashwatthama. “O king! The one with the ape on his banner was urged by Keshava and shot arrows that had been sharpened on stone at the son of the suta. Those arrows released by Partha were embellished with gold. They were shot from the force of Gandiva and penetrated Karna, like swans into Mount Krouncha. Those arrows released from Gandiva penetrated like snakes. Dhananjaya drove the son of the suta away from Bhimasena. His bow had been severed by Bhima and he was afflicted by Dhananjaya’s arrows. Karna mounted his giant chariot and quickly fled from Bhima. Bhima, bull among men, mounted Satyaki’s chariot and followed his brother, Pandava Savyasachi, in that battle. His eyes coppery red in anger, Dhananjaya swiftly dispatched an iron arrow towards Karna and it was like Destroyer urging Death. That iron arrow, released from Gandiva, swiftly sped towards Karna, like Garuda descending from the sky in search of a supreme serpent. Using his own arrow, Drona’s son severed the iron arrow in the air. The maharatha wished to free Karna from his fear of Dhananjaya. O great king! Arjuna angrily pierced Drona’s son with sixty-four arrows that were sharpened on stone. He asked him to wait and not run away. However, Drona’s son was afflicted by Dhananjaya’s arrows. He quickly penetrated an array that was full of crazy elephants and chariots. In the battle, the powerful Kounteya used the roar of Gandiva to drown the noises of all the other gold-backed bows." ~Chapter 1092(115), Section 69, Jayadratha-Vadha Parva, Bibek Debroy’s translation 2. SECOND ENCOUNTER Arjuna cut off Karna’s bow and fired 9 arrows in quick succession towards his chest. Then, Arjuna fired a fierce arrow towards Karna which resembled sun but, once again Karna was saved by Ashwatthama. Hence, this was a direct defeat of Karna at the hands of Arjuna as he had to be saved by Ashwatthama. "In that battle, the mighty-armed Phalguna struck Vaikartana Karna with one hundred arrows that penetrated all the inner organs. The powerful son of a suta had blood flowing from all his limbs. However, the brave one pierced Phalguna back with fifty arrows. On witnessing his dexterity in battle, Arjuna could not tolerate it. The brave Partha Dhananjaya severed his bow and quickly struck him between the breasts with nine arrows. It was a time when speed was of the essence. Wishing to kill him in the battle, Dhananjaya then quickly shot an arrow that was as radiant as the sun. But as that arrow descended forcefully, Drona’s son severed it with a sharp arrow that was in the shape of a halfmoon. Severed, it fell down on the ground. THIRD ENCOUNTER Duryodhana had instructed his soldiers to go for Karna’s protection from Arjuna. Arjuna slew Karna’s 4 steeds, his charioteer and deprived him of his chariot. Karna was left confused and didn’t know what to do. Then, once again Ashwatthama came to Karna’s rescue and took him up on his chariot. All this happened in fornt of the wicked Duryodhana. Hence, this was a direct defeat of Karna at Arjuna’s hands as he had to be saved by Ashwatthama once again. “O king! Duryodhana addressed those on your side. ‘Make efforts to protect Radheya. Vrisha Radheya has told me that he will not retreat without killing Arjuna in this battle.’ O king! At this time, on witnessing Karna’s valour, he drew his bow back up to his ears and dispatched Karna’s four horses to the land of the dead with four supreme arrows. With another broad-headed arrow, he brought down his charioteer from the seat of the chariot. While your son looked on, he covered him with arrows. In that encounter, he was thus shrouded. His horses were slain. His charioteer was killed. Confounded by that net of arrows, he did not know what he should do. O great king! On seeing that he was without a chariot, Ashvatthama took him on his own chariot and continued to fight with Arjuna." ~Chapter 1097(120), Section 69, Jayadratha-Vadha Parva, Bibek Debroy’s translation Duryodhana himself confirmed Karna’s defeat at Arjuna’s hands on the 14th day🔥 ‘Sanjaya said, “O king! When Saindhava was killed, your son, Suyodhana, was distressed and lost all hope about defeating the enemy. His face was miserable and covered with tears. He thought that a warrior like Arjuna did not exist on earth. O venerable one! When he was enraged, Drona, Radheya, Ashvatthama and Kripa were incapable of standing before him. ‘Partha has vanquished all my maharathas in battle. He has killed Saindhava in the encounter and no one could counter him. This large army of the Kouravas has been completely destroyed by him. I do not see any protector, not even Purandara himself. In this battle, I depended on Karna. He raised his weapons in the encounter, but was defeated. Jayadratha has been slain. In the midst of the assembly hall, he spoke harsh words to the Pandavas. That Karna has been defeated in the battle and Saindhava has been brought down. I depended on his valour and regarding Achyuta as straw, refused him when he solicited peace. That Karna has been vanquished in the battle.’ O king! He was thus distressed in his mind and in search of recourse, glanced towards Drona." द्रोणपर्वके अन्तर्गत घटोत्कचवधपर्व अध्याय 180 शक्तिहस्तं पुनः कर्णं को लोकेऽस्ति पुमानिह । य एनमभितस्तिष्ठेत् कार्तिकेयमिवाहवे ।। १३ ॥ इस संसारमें कौन ऐसा पुरुष है, जो युद्धस्थलमें कार्तिकेयके समान शक्तिशाली कर्णके सामने खड़ा हो सके ।। १३ ।। _ दिष्ट्यापनीतकवचो दिष्ट्यापहृतकुण्डलः । दिष्ट्या सा व्यंसिता शक्तिरमोघास्य घटोत्कचे ॥ १४ ॥ सौभाग्यकी बात है कि कर्णका दिव्य कवच उतर गया, सौभाग्यसे ही उसके कुण्डल छीने गये तथा सौभाग्यसे ही उसकी वह अमोघशक्ति घटोत्कचपर गिरकर उसके हाथसे निकल गयी ।। १४ ।। _ यदि हि स्यात् सकवचस्तथैव स्यात् सकुण्डलः । सामरानपि लोकांस्त्रीनेकः कर्णो जयेद् रणे ।। १५ ।। यदि कर्ण कवच और कुण्डलोंसे सम्पन्न होता तो वह अकेला ही रणभूमिमें देवताओं सहित तीनों लोकोंको जीत सकता था ।। १५ ।। _ वासवो वा कुबेरो वा वरुणो वा जलेश्वरः । यमो वा नोत्सहेत् कर्णं रणे प्रतिसमासितुम् ।। १६ ।। उस अवस्थामें इन्द्र, कुबेर, जलेश्वर वरुण अथवा यमराज भी रणभूमिमें कर्णका सामना नहीं कर सकते थे ।। १६ ।। _ गाण्डीवमुद्यम्य भवांश्चक्रं चाहं सुदर्शनम् । न शक्तौ स्वो रणे जेतुं तथायुक्तं नरर्षभम् ।। १७ ।। तुम गाण्डीव उठाकर और मैं सुदर्शनचक्र लेकर दोनों एक साथ जाते तो भी समरांगणमें कवच- - कुण्डलोंसे युक्त नरश्रेष्ठ कर्णको नहीं जीत सकते थे ।। १७ ।। _ त्वद्धितार्थं तु शक्रेण मायापहृतकुण्डलः । विहीनकवचश्चायं कृतः परपुरंजयः ।। १८ । तुम्हारे हितके लिये इन्द्रने शत्रु-नगरीपर विजय पानेवाले कर्णके दोनों कुण्डल मायासे हर लिये और उसे कवचसे भी वंचित कर दिया ।। १८ ।। _ उत्कृत्य कवचं यस्मात् कुण्डले विमले च ते । प्रादाच्छक्राय कर्णो वै तेन वैकर्तनः स्मृतः ।। १९ ।। कर्णने कवच तथा उन निर्मल कुण्डलोंको स्वयं ही अपने शरीरसे कुतरकर इन्द्रको दे दिया था; इसीलिये उसका नाम वैकर्तन हुआ ।। १९ ।। _ कवचेन विहीनश्च कुण्डलाभ्यां च पाण्डव । सोऽद्य मानुषतां प्राप्तो विमुक्तः शक्रदत्तया ।। ३० ।। पाण्डुनन्दन! कर्ण कवच और कुण्डलसे हीन तथा इन्द्रकी दी हुई शक्तिसे शून्य होकर अब साधारण मनुष्यके समान हो गया है ।। ३० ।। _ एको हि योगोऽस्य भवेद् वधाय च्छिद्रे ह्येनं स्वप्रमत्तः प्रमत्तम् । कृच्छ्रं प्राप्तं रथचक्रे विमग्ने हन्याः पूर्वं त्वं तु संज्ञां विचार्य ।। ३१ ।। इतनेपर भी इसके वधका एक ही उपाय है। कोई छिद्र प्राप्त होनेपर जब वह असावधान हो, तुम्हारे साथ युद्ध होते समय जब कर्णके रथका पहिया (शापवश) धरती में धँस जाय और वह संकटमें पड़ जाय, उस समय तुम पूर्ण सावधान हो मेरे संकेतपर ध्यान देकर उसे पहले ही मार डालना ।। ३१ ।
