Interesting that it has a pipeback blade, I've never seen that before on a bayonet... and with a raised yelman that seems to stick out in front of the barrel.

Hello, I'm a Sword Collector of Brazil and I collect basically just Brazilian Swords. The Saber that you have there is in fact a Cavalry Sword and is a current model for crowd control. Yours is from AEC (Abramo Eberle e Co) and have the Old name of Brasil "Estados Unidos do Brasil", which means this saber is probably from 1940s or 1950s. I just sold one of these recently

The sabers that are from the Republican Coup of 1889 are sabers that we call "converted", they are imperial sabers that have the imperial symbols removed, shaved or with superimposed republican symbols. At that time, there was still no coat of arms of the official republic. After the first years of the republic, the official coat of arms was established, around 1894. And at that time, until the 1930s, the name of "Brasil" always appears written with Z, unlike yours, which already appears written with S (after 1931) and this model of saber began to be used in the 1940s.
