How long did you wait in general for Leeds GIC since you got a referral from your GP mate ?

That's the most frustrating part of it, trying to explain to people that it's about internal healing and if you move too quickly, it can hurt a lot. I'm 6 weeks post-op from this surgery tomorrow and still taking it easy.Keep well bud :-)

I just had my complete abdominal hysterectomy surgery 10-14-13 and people think i should be up and running around also. Its hard to get people to understand the extensive healing that must be done on the inside. Hang in there.

If you are seeing Dr Ayres at Leeds GIC, you definitely do need your blood test results otherwise she will not prescribe you T. The most important result is your Testosterone level, as this will be monitored for a while. Other results: potassium levels, white blood count, red blood count etc. You need to go back to your doctors and explain why you need ALL of the results printing off - you are trans and starting T, maybe they have just misunderstood. Let me know how you get on and good luck! :-)

I just got my test results, 4 weeks b4 my Dr Ayres appointment. I'm worried because I went to collect my results and all they said was that my results are 'normal' they didnt have anything to give me to take to the GIC and definatley not a 12 page document, what does the document entail? so pleased all went well and you are recovering at your own pace. you are actually looking really healthy not like you've just had major surgery!! We're doing ok, everyday brings new challenges but we'll get there. much love and i hope you carry on feeling better every day xx

Hi!Thanx for your replies. Im glad to hear that yr mum has been a wonderful supporter and i hope to be the same to Joe. Its a very very long process when a child voices their gender dysphoria,as it should be in some ways,but thankfully we have found a project near us-Lancashire-called the Isaac Hitchen project with funding specifically for transgenderd kids. Hope you carry on with all you are doing and thanks again for your replies. X

I know my story is different from many others as majority of children/teenagers know before they are my age, but when my mum and myself looked back at my life ever since I was a little kid, the signs are all their, and the pieces just fit into place, especially with how unhappy I was at school and home. Hi there, thanks for your comments, that's why I like to do these videos. I always think that if I can help or educate just 1 person, then my journey is worth showing. :-) I didn't know I was transgender until the age of 20. I had problem after problem in my teenage years, and that basically hid how I felt about myself. I decided at 20 years old to get counselling for these issues and that's when it came to light about how I felt about myself. xx

I ask because my 8 year old is currently attending a chilrens gender clinic..as from the age of 2 shes worn boys clothes..worn boys school uniform...asked to be known as her middle name Joe, hair cut to a no 2 sides flat top and for the last year has cried genuine tears because sge has a boys brain that doesnt match her girls bits. i then started the ball rolling for professional help. I'll support no matter what. I aplaud your strength!! x

I found that mine shrunk and drooped since starting T, so I get what you mean. I know a couple of people that are going with Dr Yelland also, haven't heard the other two surgeons though. Yeah I forgot about photobucket, that's usually a good resource. My doctor hasn't said anytime about time scale, I think it's once you feel fit enough to go back to the gym... but I will be leaving it about 3 weeks I think.

Thanks bro, i'm quite small chested, think they've shrunk since starting T. I'm considering Dr Yelland or Dr Saxby or Dr Dean. I haven't seen keyhole photos by them tho... I'll check photobucket. Did your dr say how long you should wait until you work out?

It would be great if you had it this summer, then you will hopefully enjoy a binder free summer! :-) Do you mind me asking - are you small or large chested?? If you are large, I would recommend Mr Kneeshaw for DI - he did mine and did a brill job :-) Exeter is right down south isn't it? Take care buddy

Im doing pretty good, just working and have a new girlfriend. I dont know when i will be getting top surgery, hopefully not too long from now

I'll be having it sometime this summer. I'm going to see the dr if i can go ahead on the 14th. I'll see some surgeons for consultation and see which have the best results. Not sure if I'll have keyhole or DI so have to ask them. I live in Exeter :)
