I hope Memphis has something like this, tried to do a MRI today laying down and discovered that I am claustrophobic when they began sliding me into the machine.... Hadn't even turned it on and I just COULDN'T do it....

This is literally where I had an open MRI scan in Harley Street London yesterday literally the same room ! So much better than the extreme claustrophobia of the enclosed one.. I don't know why they just didn't design them like this in the first place !
@Win-xl7no Жыл бұрын
@geoff sullivan you weren't by any chance at alliance healthcare were you ? if so was it nice and wide and was the noise ok ? i'm there in a few weeks
@geoffsullivan4063 Жыл бұрын
@@Win-xl7no hi ! Yes It's called the European Scanning Centre ! If you have to sit for the scan it's wide enough like sitting in a small convertible car (you can look up look forward etc) you don't feel so "entombed" so to speak. I had to lay on my right side for my scan and felt quite comfortable just knowing there was nothing above me in fact I actually sort of fell asleep and started snoring ! As for the noise they ask you if you want to listen to music or the radio (I went for LBC) and could just hear muffled voices as they give you ear plugs and earmuffs. It is still as noisy as the conventional scanner but the fact that you don't feel so cocooned more than compensates for the inconvenience of the noise. I think you'll be fine.. Hope this helps and do let me know how it goes ! 😉🤞

@@AdrienneS1970lol ok ! 😄 though I'm pretty sure there is somwhere in America that can help you with this, it's rather more expensive than the average scan because of its scarcity but worth it for not being subjected to *the dreaded claustrophobia !* good luck. 🤞

Why aren't these things everywhere?! These idiotic medical professionals know the MRI machines are traumatic! Get with the times, fools!!
@poppypeppa01864 жыл бұрын
MRI‘s are the best medical imaging techniques ever, these upright MRI‘s are better for claustrophobic patients but the image quality is not so good. For some diagnostics suffice the quality but for example a Brain study it is not even possible but modern MRI‘s have a very wide bore 70+ cm and still give best image quality. And when it is such a big problem you can get sedation. But MRI‘s aren’t imagine how many patients would die with out this great invention

Does anyone have personal experience with this scanner from a radiologist perspective?
@simonblease802310 жыл бұрын
Yes. I have been using it for 1 year. Like any innovative tool, you must adopt an innovative and focussed approach to get the best out of it. But when you do, you will often discover findings that would be missed by supine only studies and these will often change patient management.
