Thank you starshadow. The gloomhaven computer game is worth the look. I solo played that and completed it. Its on sale now and again on steam. The logistics are a dream compared to the board game.

Thank you mark. I have a regular order with my local independent newsagent. They aren't part of a chain or franchise im afraid. I think forbidden planet is one option that stocks the magazine, failing that any newsagent that has a partworks collection in its stock may be worth contacting as they would share the same wholesaler/supply chain as hachette. Failing that im afraid your only option may be to take a subscription out with hachette themselves

Thank you for the kind comment deanm. Its a dilemma im facing myself. The variety of models on offer is great if you wanted to start a game group, or painting and assembling was the main focus of your hobby. However if you intend to game with these models for your own personal use its a bit overwhelming. Some models such as the Alderi are old models, others seem poorly balanced for combat patrols, and you are spread out between multiple factions with no balanced way of integrating them, that are in turn understrengh on their own. In the imperium magazine for example i built the systers of battle and the mechanicus, but have never effectively used them in game. The data sheets become outdated after the year and a half is up and you have to expand your paint collection significantly to cater for them all. I don't regret having those models, but feel i need to expand the armies to use them... and the question is do i want to sink more time/money into the hobby on new armies when i already have 4 others to play with (ultramarines/necron/deathguard/Tyranid) I think this is a good magazine collection to share rather than grab all for yourself. My circle of friends are currently debating whether to invest in this with me.

@@seanmcnallyactor I've been using the imperium magazine to teach my buddy and his son how to play the game. We don't worry about keeping the rules up to date . We use the rules as written in the magazine. My goal in subscribing was to expand my comfort zone and use the models as practice to improve my overall painting skills. Learning how to manage your paints and your brushes is a hobby in itself. I really enjoy your videos. You don't present yourself as some sort of expert and I appreciate that.

The goblin ball and chain guys are known as the fanatics. I remember playing with them in a very old PC game called shadow of the horned rat. They were fantastic unit killers in warhammer fantasy, they'd just wade through the ranks

We haven't played it im afraid, but from reports its slow enough as you are dealing with two hands and characters. Given the versatility of the game in its mechanics it can become a very "thinky" game for solo as you meld vastly different abilities together for two characters

Someday maybe, but honestly i think your best option would be the computer game. I played the story through on the game solo myself, and enjoyed the experience. I did it 4 player where i just played all 4 characters, but it works best with two. You miss your friends but you do get to experience 90% of the game. A friend of mine called Tony is currently playing the game online with one group and playing it with us in real life. He says the real life is more fun, but the online computer game is so much easier and faster to play thanks to the game doing the admin. Its a pity your friends moved on, if its a problem with jaws of the lion it'd definetly be a problem with Gloomhaven sadly. Have you others eager to play?

The expansions are not essential. The solo play expansion is hard to play in a group setting as it fixates on one character at a time for one play. The forgotten circles is an expansion for post game and the other game listed in the video founders of gloomhaven is a seperate game that is a city builder. Jaws of the lion however is a stand alone expansion that is very affordable and one i would recommend if this is tempting you. Its much cheaper and more logistically friendly. Failing that the computer game during a steam sale is also a great option and allows you to play the game on your own. With friends however is best for this game

@@seanmcnallyactor Thank you for the explanation. I was gonna say the online/steam version is alot cheaper and gives people a way to play the game. But I am a luddite and see a massive difference between playing a war-game/rpg face to face or online. Play by mail 40-50 years ago was kinda of the same difference. But for that kinda money , go pirate print all the rules for 1st ed AD&D for free and forget Gloomhaven if y'er gonna play face-to-face , if you gotta a physical game group, which gets really hard to find past highschool/college. I must be an old school snob. LOL. Regards though , love to hear a diff/new POV.

I also remember the time we first took a major big boss. A real sense of satisfaction that we pulled it off by the skin of our teeth and the mad banter wr had through it. The game is great, but its always people that make a great game brilliant

It's a great option, id thoroughly recommend people to try it to see if they like the game before investing in the board game. Its on many platforms such as steam and nintendo and does often go on sale.

Thank you, im delighted that these videos have been of a help to you. Honestly im half regretting that i didn't get two sets of this issues. Im currently recording a video where the entire selection is on display and they really stand out. 40k is a great game but the creativity in AOS in model sculpt i find is best, especially after 78 issues

I need to keep in mind that get 2 examples of an issue is an option :).I don't think I'll do that for the drakes, They are a bit too big. But the squid raiders, or the fanatics are so fun, it would be ashame to only have one squad.

@@bfournie1 There is an issue of Ork Ardboys that is definetly worth getting twice. a full squad of ten but two variants, one with spears, the other with swords. Issue 73 is great value

Thank you. Its a great magazine if you were starting a club, or had a few friends with various factions amongst them. Its also worth looking at the hachette website itself. They sometimes give a clue to the next few issues so you can plan ahead

You are okay man... i look back at my first mini's and I cringe as well. They are never unsalvageable. You can get certain low strength thinners to strip the model. As for paint guides i generally find that the warhammer official channels are best to follow for specific models. However there are other independent youtubers out there who do great introductory paint guides such as Duncan Rhodes, midwinter mini's and Eons of Battle. The other thing is terminology. There is tabletop standard and parade standard. Id focus on tabletop standard for yourself to begin with. When you get confident at that then look at going at further details. Also when painting it can be nice to listen to an audio book about the chapter/faction you are painting. It personalises the models to you more and makes the time that little bit more fun
