Transgirl here. Other than affirming that Marco isn't trans with the crew, the episode everyone points to... Naysaya... the demon curse refers to him with he/him pronouns and never reveals any hint that Marco isn't sure who he is. If Marco had ANY doubts about his gender Naysaya would have disclosed it.

it was actually supposed to be canon that she was trans !! we dont know exactly if she was a trans woman or somewhere else in the trans umbrella but !! it was supposed to be canon ! but ofc disney rejected the idea ..

This is beyond a lie. Trans girl here. I've talked to everyone from the top down on the show and everyone says that Marco was never meant to be trans. Disney didn't stop anything. Daron got Jackie's relationship in, she got bisexual Star and she got M/M and F/F kissing scenes. If she wanted to get trans Marco she would have. But he wasn't meant to be. Not only does Marco ditch the dress and say he's a boy in "Princess Turdina" he also never mentions battling any issues in Naysaya, where the curse causes Marco to confess everything.

@@punktacticz All the headcanon does is teach people to misgender. It's easy with Marco he can't fight back. It's not easy the other day when I saw a guy in a comment thread wonder what it would be like to try a dress and all of the replies rained down on him suggesting he's trans. Awful headcanon. Horrible precident.

@@Xxe1i4nxX I mean i have nothing against trans peoples, it just I haven't seen any evidence that Marco Diaz IS infact trans. I haven't seen any kind of gender dysphoria or signs or having the urge to wear female clothing or anything. I just don't think he is trans, unless you can give me reasons why he would be.

In all seriousness, that’s all you really need for a trans headcanon. If you’re trans and you relate with the character, headcanon away! No explanation needed. Awhile ago I saw someone trying to list reasons why Marco is trans, and some of what they were using in their argument had nothing to do with gender (ie: Marco liking to keep the room/house tidy??).

This is a really good point! Thanks for bringing that up! When there's such minuscule trans representation in media, particularly cartoons, we've gotta have some trans characters somehow, even if it's our headcanon.

It's more than just "I relate". It's "I assume". Marco is not trans. One of his important roles is to show boys that they don't have to be toxic to be masculine. If boys see Marco as non toxic and open minded and then see people single out Marco as trans, what does that tell them? I'm misgendered all the time. Stop misgendering. It's a bad practice fiction or non-fiction.

@@wonder1440 That was part of my point, that the explanations people were giving had weird implications with gender norms. A headcanon is just a headcanon though, it’s not the same as a theory. A headcanon is an idea about a character(s) that you don’t think is necessarily true or what the creator had in mind, but you think would be cool/interesting and is nice for you to imagine. A theory is something you think is actually true.

@@gatito2306 Again, no. Disney let a lot in, including Star being bi. But Marco was meant to show boys they don't have to be toxic to be a boy. Making him trans plays up a dangerous stereotype. Thus he has to be male.

Super fair! We're not born knowing this stuff. I feel that as long as one respects identities, and comes from a place of wanting to learn when asking a question, as opposed to wanted to alienate as in the case of my dude clone, I'll always be happy to answer :)
